hey everyone

i have a quick question about my CA.

for the longest time i thought my timing was off a tooth or two and i investigated and everything seems to be alright with the timing. but my throttle response is very hesitant. im quite sure its a sensor but i wanted to get some other peoples opinions first. what do you think it could be?

feel free to ask questions about the car if needed.

How is it hesitant? Bucking? Or if you give it 25% throttle it does nothing?

Whats you "/hg at idle?

Does it free rev ok?

its sorta like it sounds like its gonna die but just revs slowly.

i thought it might the maf because the symptoms KINDA go away at 3-4000 RPM's but not enough to matter any.

MAF is a single cam KA maf. and tryed a CA maf and just about the same results. but there is always the case that they were both bad

Mines doing the same thing, if I retard the heck out of the CAS the car runs like a champ, but if its set like its supposed to its really lazy. It will build full boost and not want to accelerate.

What have you done to the car (if anything)? What's the ignition timing set to?

Its got an Sr t25 turbo and I want to say a DOHC maf? Its a 4 wire deal but theres no shiny plate on the side of it that has any numbers. Its got a BOV and exhaust and cone air filter. I believe the timing is set to about stock but below 3 or 4k rpm's its an absolute dog, after that though it gets a kick in the pants and takes off.

I know you've checked it, but that really sounds like the cam timing is off. No offense, but have you had somebody ELSE check it? Sometimes another set of eyes can make all the difference in the world.

Ok we set it by the gun, but wasn't 100%. Gonna make 100% sure the mechanical timing is correct.

how about i post pics of the marks lining up?

only thing that i could even possibly think of for the timing to be off is that the crank pully not being on correcctly (seeing as i lined things up from TDC)

the more help the better right?

intakeExhaustCrank Pulley

so do you think it could be the crank pulley being misaligned? or the boost leak issue?

So are the paint marks on there from the factory? I never thought of lining up the marks on the sides of the cam to see where the corresponding timing mark on the pulley would be. That would tell me if my timings set properly right at least mechanically?

wow i feel like an idiot.

reading over a thread (in the CA section) i came across this

"Timing marks -The six marks on the crank pulley read clockwise are -5, 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 degrees respectively.Timing - 15*BTDC(DE(T)) "

now i was timing my CA to 0* instead of 15*.......

im quite sure no damage has been done but i will check it out ASAP... im just disappointed in myself for overlooking something like that.

or someone can chime in and say i was right? and im reading this wrong...

You're right. It's supposed to be set to 15, and you do have the order of the marks correct.
