Personally , I would be hesitant to buy an ex-rental. Although Hertz has a good reputation for maintaining their cars well (between rentals), and the FX is a nice car, rentals tend to live very rough lives while in the hands of the renters. Many get abused. That's not to say they're junk, it just that the miles were put on by people who could care less about the car, which tends to shorten life expectancies. And big rental car companies Hertz dump their cars around 24K, because there's still a few miles left on the warranties to entice buyers, but not long before they need bigger ticket normal maintenance items like tires/brakes/30K service.
If you're determined to buy one, look at it carefully and unemotionally. Good luck.

Would not unless it came with a long, comprehensive extended warranty or was 20% below market value.

YouTube "rental Car" and see how they get abused. (neural bombing, long burnouts using front brakes on RWD or ebrake on FWD) If they cut you a nice deal it may be worth it.

This.

Also note that the FX would be part of the executive series or luxury lines for rental cars. These tend not to be abused as much as their economy, midsize, and convertible brethren. I'd off much less than that- you could do better on a private party sale with maintenance history.

My 2002 Millenia was an ex-fleet car. It had some issues and didn't hold up at all. I don't miss that car one bit.

Would you marry a hooker? Don't buy a rental car either.

I really appreciate the replies, thanks..

To be honest guys..the fact that its a rental and I really need a car I think I'm going to do it considering the 4yr 60k warranty, I plan on only keeping the car until about 50k then either trading it in for something newer because I just live with myself if I'm not covered under factory warranty... I've made some mistakes and I've learned..

So on that note, I should be ok as long as I dont keep the car after 4yr,60k.... Right?

Impossible for us to answer that. It's a gamble no matter how you view it. Might want to read the fine print as far as what their warranty covers and doesn't cover. For example, it's possible the 4 yr warranty might be from date of manufacture and not date of purchase, which could effectively reduce you to 3 yrs. It also might only cover drivetrain instead of bumper to bumper. We can't tell. Another thing to check is tread depth of the tires and remaining brake lining. The tires will look nice with armor all on them, but if they average 4/32nds tread depth on them (which is probably about normal for a rental with that kinda mileage), you could get stuck buying 4 new 18" (?) tires this spring, and that ain't cheap.

No, no, no, no. Have you not seen the pictures from past Carlisle events??? :chuckle:
There is NO way I would ever buy or recommend someone buying a fleet vehicle. Ever.
