SO yeah.. for anyone who didn't watch tonight's episode of Heroes on NBC... the two Japanese characters flew out to LA and absolutely insisted on renting a Nissan Versa for their trip, because it was their destiny.

And thus they rented a Blue Onyx S.

That freaking rocks!

I got a voucher for a free download of the first episode of Heroes via iTunes. Looks to be a pretty good show. I haven't seen anything past the first episode, though.

What's even more interesting is the production schedule probably meant that they probably filmed the episode *before* the official introduction of the Versa in the USA. Somebody in Nissan product placement was on the ball....

Another thing to consider is that the characters rented the car for a long drive to New York City, so maybe the car will show up in future episodes. Of course, when they got into it, it was hard to tell if it really was a Versa or not.

But it was fun when they rented the car, speaking only Japanese, with the one guy repeating, "Nissan Versa" over and over while pointing to the picture in his comic book and the one on the poster. And then the agent replied, "Yes, that's a popular choice."

The only thing that bugs me about that particular part is that they were Japanese, and only spoke Japanese, so I'm wondering why they didn't chant Nissan Tiida. Other than the whole fact that would have wrecked the product placement.

I wondered that, too, but they were using their comic book to guide them, and since it was all in English and showed what would happen when they were in the US, I assume it read "Versa". Of course, I didn't notice if the shot that showed the picture in the comic book also had the name. It was distracting enough to hear them and to see the pictures!

It was definitly the Versa, I'd recognize those door angles anywhere. And it did say Versa in the comic.

Yeah, I was going into my kitchen last night and my dad told me that they kept asking for a Versa. I told him that he was a liar until I saw it myself.

I just think that it's weird for something like that to happen. Whenever I tell people about my car they say they've never heard of it.

Product placement paid for by nissan, apple. Wonder how much it cost every time that guy looked at his ipod? You're not supposed to notice this credit. It's like the last thing to flash on the screen at the end of the show.

I don't watch much television, and wasn't particularly taken by this show, but now I'm watching it just to see the Versa! It was prominently featured in two extended shots last night.

The first had one of the Japanese characters getting in and trying to start it, but only getting the front and back wipers going. He looked in the owners manual, and then complained (in Japanese with subtitles) that it was all in English...

The second had him sitting dejectedly in the open hatch in the parking garage when the other Japanese character (who knows how to drive) comes walking up to him with his suitcase to put back in the car. No question, this week, that it was a Versa, although they didn't mention the name.

Hiro will turn back time and their TPMS will work for another 2 weeks.

Although I have to say I'm really digging this show. The writers certainly understand twists. and a lot about human/mob mentality.

Well, then, they must have the ABS instead.

My wife asked me whether these guys were really speaking in Japanese (I am Japanese), or were they some fake Asian Japanese wannabes.

The answer is: Them guys are authentic, made-in-Japan guys who I am sure are reliable and efficient like the cars their country builds.

I started watching after this thread got started. I remembered getting a free download for the show in the mail. NISSAN must have arranged that since they're sponsors and I had just bought two brend new Nissans.

Diggin ght eshow too. It's got some great cliff-hangers. Like when the cheerleader wakes up in the morgue splayed open for an autopsy.

I've watched every episode on my computer. You can download them for $1.99 and you get them commercial free. Itunes and TIVO are definitely changing the way we advertize. Product placements can get pretty corny though.

I just have to figure out how to DVD them so I can watch on the 50 in Hitachi upstairs.

It's probably because I'm living in a drought area, but I can't get used to the wipers! We mostly use them to clean the windows, because it doesn't rain here, but for some odd reason, I'm always accidently bumping them on.

I liked the beginning of this week's episode. Hiro looks like a badass when he's all Samurai. (The frozen time scene with Peter Petrelli)
