Well, heres another thread about my wheel fitment issues. Apparently the previous thread is missing. Anyways, on the previous thread I was asking whether an 18x8"+38 clear on my S13 with coilovers. I was explaining that I currently have a 17x8" with a 5" backspacing, which will make the offset +25, and the wheel was sticking out past the fenders. So, someone had suggested to post a pic of my current wheel setup, that way they can understand what I was talking about. To make a long story short, heres the pics they requested. Hopefully it doesn't disappear like the last one.

5" backspace on an 8 = +12 offset, not +25

Isn't offset measured from the mounting surface of the wheel to the wheel centerline? So, my backspacing is 5" which would mean I have a 1" distance to the wheel centerline (1"=25mm) correct? How is it a +12 on a 5" backspacing? Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks...

a 17x8 wheel is 8 inches between the bead seats but the overall width of the wheel is about 1" larger when you include the lip. that means it's 9" when you divide by 2 to find the wheel centerline. that's 5"-4.5" = .5", which is 12mm.

there's a good chart on this page so you don't even have to converthttp://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html

See, thats what I didn't know until now. Thanks for clearing that up with me. Anyways, by the looks of my pics, since I'm only used to measuring by backspacing, if I get a x8" with a 5-1/2" backspacing, that should be able to clear, right? Thanks again...

I think I sorta, kinda figured it out now. Help me if I'm wrong, I'm going with a 17x8" (was going with 18" before) with a 5-1/2" backspacing, which will make the offset +25. Please tell me I'm correct, because according to my pics, I just need to go in about 1/2" more, and the current backspacing on this 17x8" is 5". So, .5=12mm and 1"=.25mm, right? I think I'm starting to get it now....

By the way, what do you guys think of the wheel design? I think it fits my style, probably get some mixed reviews about it!!

looks like an old centerline wheel. would probably look better without the center cap i think. an inch equals 25.4mm, .5 inch 12.7mm, but yeah you are close.

by the chart sultan linked then yeah 5.5" is x8 +25, which is fine

i think it looks better with the center cap too, though i cant say im a fan

they wont provide good airflow to the brakes and such

how many mm outward does the 5 lug swap add? cause this doesn't reallymake any sense, I think someones measurments might be wrong.

obviously 17x8 has greater diameter than my 15x8 but the width should beidentical, my fronts are +14mm offset, and thats verified. even if yours are +12mm,I wouldn't think they'd stick out that much... cause this is what mine look like.

5-lug swap shouldnt add any width. Are you 100% sure about your front offset and width? How did you get those numbers? I am running 16x7+32 up front and it looks exactly like like your car.

ssr prints it on the sticker/plate on the inside of the wheels. I am going to put them on my s110. I will take a pic when they come off.

by looking at your pics id say you need to go in 1 inch.so id say a 35 offset will do it

an 8 inch wheel +35 will not clear coilovers on an s13. i doubt youll find anyone on nico who likes those wheels... im sorry, but they look staright out of minitruckin magazine.

Actually, I have mounted a 16x8+35 up front on my car, and the wheel will clear kts. Tire will not. If the sidewall of the tire sticks out at all past the wheel lip, It probably won't fit. Not too many people stretch tires on on 8" wheels, so in most cases you would be correct.

Those pics dont make sense at all. 17x8+25 should be sunk on S13 front, even +12 would be about flush, but not sticking out like that...................

I was wrong about my offset on my thread, but after I was informed of exactly how offset is measured, I say it is a +12. Excuse me for putting up te wrong numbers...................
