While I was in the car today taking pics of the shift knob I thought why not take a pic of my accelerometer install.Ive got it hardwired in through the sunroof wireing and it fits pretty nice and out of the way but still almost in direct line of site. Ive got another cord hardwired into my S2K too and I switch between having it in the Q and in the S2000.For those of you unfamilier with these Ill to start by saying its probably the first thing you should spend your money on before you do any performance mods of any kind. If you have one of these you can monitor and MEASURE your 1/4 mile 0-60 times, lateral G's, and calculate horsepower and see and measure what kind of gains any mods you do have and to what degree they help you. At first I figured it was probably some Mickey Mouse gadget I would end up returning, That was about a year and a half ago and I cant see never having one again. In my S2k its almost like clockwork when I hit about 1.2 G's on a corner I know Im going to lose the back end. anyway, just thought Id share.

That's pretty cool, what brand is that one? Only one I've heard of is the one on the commercials that says "....magazines have tested it....now they test with it"

What do you do, plug in your vehicle weight and other various questions to get that information? How does it know how fast you are going and how far you've gone? Always wondered that after watching the commercial.

Its a Belltronics Vector FA2. As far as 0-60, 1/4 mile times etc go it registers and starts the time when it "feels" a foward movement stronger than .01 of a G,likewise it stops when it feels an opposite movement indicating your stopping. The thing is real sensative, Ive tipped it off before Ive done runs by simply jumping around in the seat. As far as horsepower goes thats a whole different matter,As you guessed you plug in your vehicles wieght and do a run. The Accelerometer automaticly calculates your rear wheel horsepower based on how long it takes a vehicle of that wieght to move that far. While its pretty accurate its still affected by outside influences such as how good of a jump you got, if your tires hooked up etc. So its really only accurate based on your best times.Hardly a substitute for a dyno, but then again it kind of puts things into perspective that the reason we do what we do in cars is to go fast, not to increase horespower. And as far as reflecting how fast you went it does remarkably well.
