Hello all,Let me start by saying to all on this board, that I am pretty impressed. I am a long time hobby wrencher, everything from 500 buck crashed to new trucks, dumped, raised, stereos ( I lived in the 80s hahaha), 510s, and my several year project now is my WRX, which is now a track rat. I have done everything myself, and used to frequent the NASIOC forums (subaru guys). Bigger turbos, tuning, coils, injectors, pretty much everything. I usually would learn by screwing it up the first time! I recently came into accidental ownership of a 240SX vert. I was doing a favor for an old professor of mine from the college days who came into hard times, and told her I would sell her cars for her. I did one, and then drove the 240 around a bit. Thought I would hate it, and wouldn't fit (I'm 6'5'' and 210). However I started finding my spot, and started driving the thing everywhere. The top is bad, and motor leaks (I think), and there is tons of things needed. But I decided I would keep it, paid her, and now I have spent the last 2 months reading and reading and reading on this forum. Lots of good info and great write ups. Congrats.

i am officially hooked and will probably spend more money than I should but its too late Tonight I m starting on the top. Puchased from a place provided in a post here, and trunk struts, ditto, and door cards needed, and exhaust cam, etc....

Thanks for a great forum, and you will be probably reading my questions as a I start in on stuff I should leave to others. But I love it.

Just in case I eventually blow it and ask questions answered a zillion times. I have spent countless hours reading everything I could so that I wouldn't do that. So if it happens, cut me some slack, because I just didn't find my answer, or I just didn't get it!

Peace

Mike

welcome aboard. I am about 6'0" and i think the verts have plenty of head room, especially with the top down.

The verts do have much more head room (w/ top up) than a coupe/hatch, especially ones with sunroofs. I'm 6'4 and my coupe is about 1/2" of headroom, Vert I have a good 3-4".

Welcome aboard Mike,You may have stumbled upon one of the.... no wait.. the coolest forum on the web.... this is a pretty loose bunch here and we all try to get along (with minimal flaming). DeXter is the official guy... if he didn't ask we would have been dissappointed..lol.. Also make sure you hit the registry and get entered in... I'm gathering you have realized the somewhat rarity of the Little Vert that could. .. The registry just helps us keep track of how many are still road worthy.... we all morn the loss of everyone of our verts brothers and sisters.. Most recently Loki, nissanconvert and DeXter (although in true vert form...aquired another one)... Good luck with the Vert... and get some pics posted

Welcome Mike.

Great to have you on board with us. I gather with your previous experience in turbo's.. we may see some pics of another boosted 'vert someday soon. That would be awesome.

Let us know if there is anything we can do to help out. Please do keep us updated on your mods/projects.

Don't worry too much about being flamed for not searching. We're a pretty friendly bunch. We'll help ya out anytime you need.

crapodarnit,I have been stalling responding, because I wanted to figure out how to put the pics up. But, I have burned too much time diddlin around with my .mac account and can't figure out how to just host some pics there and paste a URL into my post here. I read on your online Help, that if the moderator turns on the feature I can just attach pics, but either that's not on, or I am even dummer than I was hoping.

So I need to do my first and someone coach my dumbars how to add pics, and you will see some nasty rusty bits as the starting point.

To answer some of the posts;

I don't plan on tracking the vert, but anything is possible. I saw some badass Yaris' at the track last time, so its important to remember that anything with wheels can be fast and fun.

Yes, I have a spare turbo lying around (that has some decent blow by), and I loved the 200 dollar boosted KA24E post I read the other week. So a boosted and blown up KA sounds like fun! I loved the home made manifold!!!!

Welcome!! Hope you enjoy yourself here.

As for pics, I'd just suggest using photobucket.com. You have to sign up but it's pretty self explanatory and easy when you get used to it. Or if you have too much trouble you can always email them to me and I can set up an account and host them for you (I'm a bored and disabled student that can't drive, I need something to do).

I think those jokers in your signature were in the Yaris when it was all over the a55 of a dialed Z06. Everyone stopped laughing after that. Everyone was in fear of getting passed by a 12k blown and gutted 1.5 liter!!!

I think I actually do want a Yaris.

Its not much, but the victory here should be the ability for me to actually have posted a pic. I spent most of the day deconstructing my old top, and will be repairing the mechanics, and installing the new top. But for all the folks that were crushing for not having pics and talking too much.

Here is a pic of the day I washed it, with all intention to sell it. You may see a for sale sign in it. So this is the beginning point. It already looks much better than this, but this was the beginning.
