Now tell me 96Q45GAL, What if anything will you do the above info?

Just guessing from under the palm tree that by this time you have spent enough to justify a professional diagnostic hour or the very least a ''re-built''(whatever that means)MAF from cardone.com

The continual loading & unloading can not be improving the driveline connected components.

Might I suggest you seek an Infiniti dealer for your diagnostics. $ well spent will translate to $ saved.

GLUK!

Or at least get a known good new MAF from Joe.

Q45tech wrote:As a safety measure lack of air flow [either real or a drop in 1.2 volts from MAF at idle] shuts off fuel pump after the expiration of high mode TIME [depends on coolant temp at start up ~ 5-30 seconds] to fill rails and create pressure on start up.

Turning on key create a 0.5 volt MAF signal, a running engine create a low of 1.1 volts running hot idle 750 rpm to 1.4 volts cold 1500rpm idle.

60 mph [2000 rpm steady] will be around 1.6 volts

Maximum MAF voltage is around 4.4 volts at 6000+ rpm loaded on the road at WOT!
In other words, yes, or ... sure. Don' worry about that. You need a working MAF. Good luck on the next try. It's such a simple infuriating problem - you'll be amazed how much more you'll like the car when it's over.

WOW! It has been more than 4 MONTHS since you originally posted about having problems with your MAF.... and still not fixed???? Wouldnt it have been easier to just deal with this once at an Infiniti dealer, and be done with it way back in November? I dont understand the logic in trying to save a few dollars, while living with such a crippling issue for over 4 months and counting now?

Get the car to the dealer, get a proper diagnosis, let them repair it or order the parts they say it needs brand new from Joe, and put it behind you!!

Not saving the $250 per month [$3,000 per year] always leaves you short in Q repairs.

Old Q are known the ramling wrecks of the Lux car industry, even the old Lexus are better maintained by the ministers/ state reps stealing from plate or hocking the church building.

MAFs going out really aren't notorious. No reason to throw money away on a new one. My $75 junkyard MAF is perfect.

Do you make commission?

How can you have a 1.2V drop when it's supposed to sit at 1.1V at hot idle?

No doubt this is due to the low resale value of the Q, which in time becomes a $500-2500 car purchased by poor people with little education who think they are getting quite a ride for the pennys spent....until their new shiny toy cries for $$$ in maintenance or repairs, and not having the funds, the car sinks into disrepair, further plummeting its value and safety until it becomes a lawn ornament or parts junker- see them all around the city, driven by young thugs that look like they are minimum wage mcdonalds workers...quite rare to see a G50 driven by anyone in a suit downtown anymore

No, it is worn.

Personally, I like my vehicles to be well functioning for a long time. Wasted time is more valuable to me than a few dollars.

The point about the MAF is at idle the exact voltage will vary depending on rpm, air temp, barometric pressure, and humidity , PLUS the ERROR ACCURACY of the MAF...................many FSM point out 5-10 grams per second is idle flow ours say 1.0-1.4 volts for idle.

Instead of dropping below 1.1, I should have said below 1.000 volts depending...............................actually 1.18 volts is a common ATL number

How did the 96 MAF manage to be wrong?
