They finally ditched the hideous wheel arches. The interior features more LCDs (eww), more mood lighting (oooh), more metal in place of plastic (ahhh), and some pretty sweet quilted leather on the dashboard (oh my!).

so glad when the LED eyebrow phase is over... stupid look on every car (shakes fist at Audi)

Otherwise, it looks from the rear as much like a Genesis as the Genesis did a S class when it came out.

Given the MSRP they'll want, they should use more metal than plastic. I don't mind its looks despite being so big. The new rear seems Bentley-like.

in the top of the screen its called a Maybach... S class thats the reason for the huge caboose.

$250k probably is the starting price. 2006's S65's are running around PHX with under 60 k miles for 30-40k. Its just the cost to keep a 12 cylinder twin turbo running yikes! The 2007 starts the better rear lights too.

I looked at E63's and S65's before buying my Jag and the S is a whole lotta car. Even with 604 hp it still doesn't feel like a racecar. The Jag feels and more importantly sounds like a racecar.

As with every S-class since the W126, it's supremely generic looking. I know there are a lot of MB owners who want to kind of fly under the radar in their S-class rather than riding in a look-at-me limo, but the modern S-class has always had the wrong combination of boring and hyper-contemporary design to my eyes. They don't age well. The W220 aged particularly poorly, despite not really having much about it that COULD age. The W140 was at least sharp and handsome, like a nice suit, even if it was a pretty mundane suit.

I see Equus in the rear in a big way, which seems kinda weird to me. It feels like the early '90s again, when Lexus had the MB styling formula mastered to the point that you couldn't tell who was copying who. That's not a good thing, for either brand.
