Very nice. It takes what I like about the ATS and adds some brawn. What strikes me the most is that it looks big-car stately from the sides but low and aggressive from the front. It manages to combine the two nicely.

It's not perfect, though.
I'm not a fan of the G37-style hood flares going into the a-pillars, but at least on the CTS they're almost nonexistent.
The grille is also visually high. With the smaller opening beneath it, it kinda looks like an offended cartoon character.
The rear overhang is pretty enormous. I'm surprised...previous CTS generations have had a long wheelbase with the rear axle shoved way to the back.
And my last criticism is that this car has inherited the ATS's mutant raised deck. It's broader here, and much less noticeable from the rear. But it still looks strange from the side, especially with its downward cant (which breaks one of my Cardinal Rules of Automobile Styling).

Agreed.
It almost looks A8-ish from the side.
Definitely looks a bit more up-class and grown up than the outgoing model.

I foresee them losing a lot of the gangster crowd.

I'm not entirely sure that I like the front end. It's way squared off from the side profile, and the grille is too high and tall, and like MoD said, the little opening gives it an odd look.

The rest though, is great.

I see my XF in a lot of new cars.... the hood on this CTS looks like the hood on my Jag the power buldge and then a sharp drop down at the front fender edge. Its a good looking car can't wait to see if it gets the twin turbo 3.6l V6 as a base powerplant :naughty:

Look at the hood lines and tell me I'm crazy

Ok, you're crazy.... :chuckle: j/k

It might have a minor styling cue from a Jag and a few other cars (like the Audi big grill) but the new caddy styling looks evolutionary from the previous generation more than anything else. The new CTS has a somewhat angry looking, busy nose, then subtle sweeps along the side. I'm not excited by it, though I'm sure fans of the previous generation CTS will like it.

Thats a good lookin' car. I could probably even get past the arch on the fenders except for one thing- I wish the hood closed even with the grill and not back a couple of inches. The true clamshell is more attractice (IMO) than the square of a hood that lifts up from the fenders and nose. My guess is that its designed that way for safety though...

Maybe I'm just getting old but I think GM has hit a home run with this one. Unless Infiniti steps up the engine options for a competitive price I may be looking at a domestic on the next go round.

Infiniti needs to step it up, period. We'll see how they handle the Q60. I'm not at all impressed with the Q50.

Love, love, love.

Caddy is DRILLING it lately. Love the ATS, love the ETS (even more), and this is a home run as well.

I'm in my late 20s dude, and I'm here to tell you - Cadillac is nailing it. I'll be watching what happens with the ATS-V very closely.

Perhaps Cadillac is getting younger.

I also am biologically in my late 20s and love Cadillac. Of course I loved Cadillac in the '90s, too. But I'm also really 58 at heart, so that may explain a little.

That thing is HOT. I may be close to 40 but I promise you I wouldn't drive it like most 40 year-olds would. ;) That much torque and HP deserves to be abused. Daily.
