Here's stuck on the guide cover

From the pic below you can see how far I've made toward removing the chain cover. I have the cover loose enough to slide something like a slim knife all around surface where it meets the block. So all bolts have been removed -- including the under pan bolts that connect to the cover.

I can't seem to free it any more than just a crack large enough for a knife blade. I don't want to force anything aluminium.

I think I need to take a break for a while to prime the exterior of a house with wooden siding. I'll check in later this evening to see if anyone has some ideas for freeing it from the block. I have the bolts loose, but I don't want to remove the drivers side front cover until I can assess the chain and guide condition under the large cover.
