Hi Guys,

On both 94s my steering wheel developed a clicking sounding as you slightly turn it from from dead center. Its subtle but annoying. It seems to fade during cold weather.

Removing the front cover shows nothing, comming in from the back and applying a little pressure around the black 4" gasket with a small screwdriver stops it.

I would remove the wheel and give it deeper look but I'm afriad of the airbag.

Anyone else have this?

Peter

Like most no preventative mainteance [lube] to any part will eventually allow some wear and noise to develop.

The air bag requires some serious Joules to explode. Discoing it [after you disconnect battery to avoid sfter restoration lights] is safe unless your vehicle gets struck by lightning during the process.

It makes sense that its a lube issue. Thin lube on a warm day will be very compliant.

Is there a thread on steering wheel remove?

I need a wheel removal tool as I remember.

if you are doing this on a 94 't', remeber that there is a sensor in there for the hicas control. fsm has the notes.
