While I really don't want to, in order for me to get everything I want on the vehicle, I am going to have to drive to Atlanta (about 200 miles from me). It all comes down to the wood accent package...Local dealer doesn't have it, Atlanta dealer does...I know it sounds stupid, but I really wanted it..

2010 G37 Journey Sedan
Black Obsidian
Premium Package
Nav Package
Wood Accents
Splash Guards

$35,559 (which includes a small vehicle transfer fee since the dealer has to do a dealer trade to get the car I want).
$599 doc fee.

What do you think?

I assume the Doc fee includes your registration? (the doc fee on my contract was like $50 and registration fee was listed separate). If so, then your deal sounds about right.

Yep, the local dealer says they can't do anything about the wood so it looks like I will be traveling to get what I want. I do have the option to go with a white car that has everything I want from the local dealer, but I think I really want to go with Black (though I said I would never own another black car!!!)..Just love the car in Black though.. gotta tint the windows when I get it..I think the local dealer just can't compete with this place in Atlanta because of volume.. the larger dealers must be able to handle a signifigantly lower profit margin because of sheer volume..

I hate paying the doc fee though..

One more thing, I wanted to have the rear spoiler put on and the dealer in Atlanta is saying it would be an additional $800 to put it on.. Seems a little high. Does anyone know how the spoiler mounts (is it just 3m tape, or do they need to drill holes?). If it is just 3m tape I am confident I can do it myself..

That is what I had to pay to get mine installed. I hated to pay that much, but I wanted to make sure all the camera equipment was hooked up correctly. I had just won a pretty good jackpot so I bit the bullet.

spoiler from the dealer is about $425 + labor. I think I got quoted $650 installed. It requires drilling 3 holes on your trunk.

Well, the dealer has this thing going on with a $250 coupon that I am going to see if they will honor...That will cut my cost down a little bit...

Still waiting to hear back from them. All my financing is in order, just waiting for them to come back about the spoiler..

Also put a call in to a guy at Gwinnett in Atlanta (and an email) but he is not responding..

Final price is in..

Splash Guards
First Aid Kit
Cargo Net
Cargo Mat
Spoiler

$36,354

They got me for $795 for the spoiler and installation.. Oh well. I pushed back on them but I doubt they are going to give me a break since I think I am getting a pretty good deal anyway.. Still never heard from the Gwinnet guy..

That's a good deal. Invoice without the spoiler is around 36,914, so you're already getting a good deal. If your final price includes the spoiler, then that's a really good deal.

Good thing I worked late last night, got a phone call from South Atlanta Infiniti..Same car with everything I want for $35,336 out the door and that includes the Spoiler...They even said they will meet me half way so I don't have to drag the kids all the way down to Atlanta to finish the deal..

Make sure it's the same everything....they play games down there. I know Infiniti of Gwinnett can beat South Atlanta's prices.

I spoke to Penneman the other day, but he never got back to me..

I got this email from my local dealer today:
"Eric,

My Sales Manager wants to sale 4 cars today. Make me an firm offer that I can take and get approved. I have a lunch appointment today form 11:30 to 12:30 so call me on my cell phone or email. Thanks"

They have the car I want, but it doesn't have the wood accents (which is a big deal to me). The inner child in me wants to email him back and try to lowball the heck out of them just to see what they would do, but my conscience is getting the better of me..

Wait till the last day of the month and then you can really lowball.

Get the trim you want. You will always be unhappy with it if you don't.

Exactly what my wife says. Even though I bet I could get a KILLER deal on the car from this local dealer in the end I don't think I would be happy.. That stupid wood package is killing me. Hardly any cars have it left...

Local dealer just called and said they would install the rear spoiler for free...Why don't they go out and find the vehicle I want instead of trying to sell me the one they have on the lot that doesn't have the wood accents? I just don't understand. Every dealer, except my local one, has NO problem going out, locating the car and dealer trading it so they can sell it to me...

Hope I am not boring you guys, I find this interesting..

Nope not boring at all! Tell them you want them to install the trim you want in exchange for the "free" spoiler..

Don't ever "settle"

You can always order the wood trim kit separately and negotiate for "them" to install it for you when it comes in.

Never in my life have I ever worked with dealers who are so unresponsive! It's almost like they don't want to sell me a car!! I have not heard from Infiniti South Atlanta since last week (and there is only 6 days left to use the Conquest cash)..My local dealer actual quit his job at the dealership (I think I drove him to it!!) and Nalley Infiniti won't do anything to help out with logistics (I will have to make 2 seperate trips to Atlanta to close the deal...)..WTF?!?!? Maybe I should take this as a sign that it was just not meant to be....Hmmm...Corvette?

I did talk to Steve Pennmen (Gwinnett) last week and gave him all of my details, but that was it. Never heard back from him. South Atlanta offered me a great deal, even gave me an offer on my trade sight unseen (which should have tipped me off there was a problem), but again never heard from them again. My local guy straight up quit Infiniti, said too many hours for not enough pay..Makes me wonder how much do those guys make? Is it all commission or do they get a salary as well..I have been tracking and my local dealer hasn't sold any of the G37's they have on their lot in the past month and every time I go there I am usually the only one there..Gotta be a tough job working for a luxury car dealership..especially in this economy.

TImes like these, they will tell you anything over the phone just to get you down there. Especially if you're travelling a distance. They figure if they can get you down there, chances are, you might buy a car even if the deal isn't exactly what it was because you drove all that way. Usually some BS they tell you when you get down there as to why the numbers changed. I always call and work with the internet/fleet manager. They get a salary + commision based on the number of units they sell. Floor sales person gets commission based on what profit they sell the car for. I'm not too sure about their base salary. So in my experience, the internet/fleet manager will always sell you a car for much lower because it is in his/her best interest to move as many units as possible, not what the price of the car.
