I am a strong believer in keeping the stock OEM crank pulley/harmonic balancer on. I have read on too many sites the physics and vibrations that happens in the crank and all that stuff to replace it with an UR pulley and try to keep a peace of mind.

For the past 2 hours I've been searching and searching for any other lighter DAMPENED crank pulley and the only ones I could find where about 500-600$. Nahhh screw that. Has anyone on here successfully dampened they're UR pulley through some custom work or something? I don't know a lot about welding and machine shops but there has got to be another alternative to replacing the stock pulley with something lighter and still reliable.

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

There might be a way, but usually custom stuff like that is just as expensive. Is the stock pulley steel? If so I guess you could try to find a custom shop to make you an exact aluminum copy, but like I said it would probably be expensive too.

As far as welding, not sure how exact it has to be to maintain the correct weight on the pulley/balancer.

I was under the impression that getting an UD pulley doesn't really free up a ton of horsepower anyway. I've also heard that if you get a quality UD pulley from a good company you shouldn't have any issues.
