Please help me. I locked my only key in the trunk, but my doors are open. I had to disconnect my battery so the alarm would quit. My trunk release will not work with the alarm going off. What can I do to open the trunk. I already tried to send 12 volts to the fuse socket that goes to the trunk release with no luck. What can I do? please help asap. thanks

I remember seeing a small whole behind the rear seats once they are removed, but if not.... you'll need to get a key cut. It takes an hour and $300, but make sure that you can prove the cars is yours. Bring title or registration. sorry man. ...maybe the alarm wil reset and allow you to use the trunk release on the door. give it a while.

Im guessing that you slimmed jim'd your way into the car and that triggered the alarm, right? That would answer alot of questions. I cant think of any reason for the alrm to be going off.

edit:Is it the entire key fob with steel insert or just the blk fob. The steel key can be inserted into the ignition to send juice and that should reset that alarm and allow the trunk release to be used..

OK, I just found out that the trunk does have a key hole. I did not know that(I'm a dummy). This helps tremendously, because I can just get a key made or a locksmith. Thx for the help guys. Oh and yes, I did use a slim-jim, this is the reason the alarm is going off. And I did lock the entire key, black remote with the silver meatl key inside of the trunk(I'm a dummy). thx

Happens, unfortunately.

I did this with my old RX-7 more than once. I'd open the rear glass hatch with the key, lean over into the back, put the key ring down in the back (hands were not free), do/take out whatever I was fiddling with, and then slam the hatch back down. With the keys inside.

After the third or fourth time doing this, I learned to put my keys back in my pocket before diving in.

I did the same thing the other day; but the car was locked too; the tow truck guy unlocked the car, and I still could not open the trunk; I had to start the car; then turn it off, and then the trunk release worked to open the trunk; I was surprised the car started with the keys in the trunk; The alarm was going off the whole time also;

ok, locksmith cant do it. Cursed out the Infiniti dealership, so they cant do it. There has to be a way to get in the trunk with the alarm armed.

SHREVE66 wrote:I locked my key in the trunk. Here are the answer to some of the questions that may help.

1. Yes it is my only key.2. Yes, I tried removing the seats.3. Yes I disconnected battery for hours and even tried pulling on the trunk while pulling on the trunk lid opener while reconnecting battery.4. Locksmiths wont touch the M45 for some reason???5. I get different answers from different Nissan dealerships whether they can make my key by the VIN. I hate to have it towed and then they say "my bad, but we can't do it"6. I tried running a hot wire straight from the battery to the fuse socket with the battery disconnected from the car, thinking the alarm was killing the hot to the fuse, but I guess it is deactivated after the fuse block and before the switch. Weird!!!

Any ideas on how to pop the trunk on my M45 2003.
sounds like you will be purchasing a new key fob for 300+. Why'd you curse the dealership? ...and why cant they make a new key fob with the vin?

man, kinda long story, basically sounds like a bunch of redneck hillbillys working there. My wife isn't on my registration, she is in GA, I'm in FL. 9 hours away. She is on my insurance, my name is on her military ID card since I am Navy. I told them f*** that I could fax them my military ID and license, and have the insurance company call, and have the tow company show proof that it is a claim on my insurance roadside assistance, but they said I had to be there. So I cursed the f*** out. NOW I'm stuck. The closest other dealer in in SC, like 110 miles away from where the wifey is. Hey cakedaddy, man did you ever figure out how to get the lights rainbox flavored, that is you, isn't it.

If you search there was an old post where someone locked there keys in the trunk. Somehow he managed to take the back seat out and fish out the keys. There is space above the gas tank to fish around a little. Good Luck.

I'm suprised that after reconnecting the battery it still arms the alarm. You should be able to just pop the trunk after connecting the battery back.

Shreve66:

How tall are you? The small opening in the back seats, and see if you can reach the emergency trunk release cable.

Thats all i can think of.......and it'll save you $300.00

yeah thats me... here is the linkhttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=310403

Maqueswell has the right idea with his post of going the the rear seat in a small opening. Take a look at where the trunk struts are and tape a small flashlight to a hanger.

A new key is $534.32, don't ask how I know. :D

What about ordering a key on ebay, having it programmed, then starting the car? Or will the alarm not allow it?

Have wifey overnight the second set of keys to you?

The only other thing I can think of is to look up the wiring diagram for the trunk, locate & tap them as they go to the front to send 12v through them.

I can not access the trunk from behind me seats. I only have 1 set of keys. If anyone could tell me how to pop the trunk while the alarm goes off, then that looks like the only way, or I can tow it over 100 miles to the nearest Infiniti dealer.

If you had not pi*sed of the Infiniti dealer the Nissan guys should have been able to cut you a dummy key. All you need is the insert since you still have the real key.I don't know what your going to do now though. Good Luck

I didnt piss them off, they pissed me off by telling me I had to drive 9 hours to do this **** in person, when my wife could do it. I may end up driving there or flying there now so I can wire the trunk release hot. All i need is a schematic, I do this for a living with the Navy.

If the doors are open why can't you hit the switch on the drivers door panel?

Ok, I locked the keys in the trunk of my wife's Lexus GS300 (yes, I know it's not the same car, but keep reading). I looked in the owner's manual, and it explained step by step how to kill the anti-theft long enough to open the trunk, then reset it. Look in your owner's manual under 'Body, Lock, and Security'.

the owners manual is in the trunk with the key. Just clowning! That would be nice if that function is available on these cars. I was thinking that if you left the battery disconnected for a long period of time... that would completely reset and then he'd be allowed to use the trunk release.

- I think the alarm disabled that trunk release switch.

Thanks to everyone on the forum for the help. I really appreciate the advice. The alarm disables the trunk, and I did disconnect the battery for hours. The guys at Nissan/Infiniti are pretty smart and make it almost impossible to get in the trunk without the key and with the alarm armed. Thanks again.

I just made 3 more copies of my key. I left one at work, gave one to the GF, gave the other to a buddy!Shreve66 you have done us a great service to let us realize how screwed we'll be if we ever lock our keys in the trunk! For this .... I THANK YOU!

FWIW - I had a friend who owned a Repo company - he could make any key from the VIN number while in his car! I think he had a translation of the sequence from manufacturers, but I saw the device in his car.

Steve, thx for the compliment, and I promise to stick around and try to give any advice I can. Don't know too much, but i can try. And yes I did get in, well the wifey got in. And to Cake, great idea on making copies. I have 1 extra copy that was made today, but I am going to get 2 more. 1 for my key chain for my other vehicle and 1 for the wifey in her purse. The other will be hidden in a safe place. thx to everyone again, and Cake, you need to come off that secret for the rainbow display dawg. You should call that guy up at the shop and ask how he did it.

Did you read? "And yes I did get in, well the wifey got in."

You'll need to tell us what you have and what you've tried so far.
Have fob and no key?
Have other set somewhere?
Have dealer nearby?
Have doors open?
Have back seat removed to attempt to pull emergency release?
Have a trunk monkey?
