I have a 1985 300zx turbo.

I start the car up in the morning and it idels really high, like 1,500rpm's

then i try and go forward and i have the clutch out, and my foot pushed all the way on the gas but the rpms drop to 1,000 and then VERY slowly creep up to like 2,500 and then the turbo kicks in and everything is fine about like 3,000rpms.

but once the engine warms up it runs fine. im wondering what is wronge and what i need to do to fix this, bc the wheather is just getting colder

CHTS(Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor), a very common problem on Z31's and really hard to get to, if no the the FICV (Fast Idle Control Valve) not as common of a problem and easier to get to but still a pain to replace

what i really want to do with the Z is to put it in the garage and just take it apart, clean it up and just take my time with itbut i dont have a garage since im living in a aprtment complex. but were moving soon. and then i have to build a garage and thhheeennn the real work can get underway. maybe ill lighten the thing up too.

Any word on what the problem is yet?

On a side note...something I was thinking of the other day....don't forget that your Z is 20 years old and is going to have problems from time to time. Heck mine is 15 years old already!

Best of luck!
