1995 Altima180k miles
I bought the car over a year ago and havent been able to drive the thing since. I havent had much time to work on the damn thing.
At any rate. I initially discovered that the car had the ienvitable "ticking" from the timing chain, and upon further investigation, the head gasket was blown.
I sent the head off and had it rebuilt and I replaced the entire timing set...
Got the engine back together and now the damn thing wont even start!
I'm pretty sure I've got the timing right. I mean, please correct me if im wrong, but I matched up all of the colored links w/ the marks on the gears, you cant quite screw that up! Am I right that thats the only thing that needs to be aligned?
The car appears to be getting spark because I pulled teh wires and watched the arc to the head of the engine when i tried to start it (plug wire was about 1/4" from the head). I only tried it w/ one wire. I assume they are all good....
I know i'm gettin fuel to the fuel rail. I pulled those from the filter to the edge of the rail and well, fuel went everywhere... I'm not certain that fuel is getting into the cylinders. I pulled the wires again and looked inside and there was barely anything in there... you can tell there was a lil liquid on top of the piston but not that much. I put the plugs back in and continued testing to no avail....pulled the plugs again and the same amount of fuel is sittin on top of the pistons (not that much). No more, no less. It makes me believe that none is getting in there!
I checked and the injectors are getting power...12V solid. I havent installed a noid light yet to check for pulsing, but im going to do that tomorrow...
What else do you think I can check? We checked the compression when we initilially put it all back together and it was, well I can remember, but I think 130? I can't quite remember... i know it was in the ball park of decent compression.... I guess I'll go through and check each cylinder again too...
Can anybody answer me this.... Assuming that fuel is getting into the cylinders when attempting to start, if you try and turn it over too much, wont their continually be more and more fuel sitting on top of the piston?
Thanks in advance for everyone's help. I'm at a complete standstill and have no idea what to do....
