Help won't start

I tried to start my 92 Maxima, nothing. I then tried to jump the starter and you can hear it try to start the car, but it will not turn it over...Please HELP...Thanks in advance.
I am not a mechanic so please bear with me...

You can remove the starter and take it to an Autozone, Pepboys or Advance Auto and they can test it for you. Same with the battery and alternator.

If the battery and connections are good, it could be a case of 'sticky/gummed' up starter.
