Ok, i have a 95 240 that is pretty much stock. Over the past few days the car has gotten harder to crank over. The starter will turn the motor over 2 times very very slowly, then it gives up. I took the battery(optima redtop) into a batter place and put it under a load tester and it did fine + the voltage was just a lil low(not enuf to keep the car from starting). This leads me to believe that the starter is the culprit, is this correct? NISTECH help me out here.

Alternator? Have it checked. If it turns over I'd say it's most likely not your starter. Maybe starter solonoid or bad connection but I'd say alternator. Lots of parts stores will test alternators for free if you take it in. It's only like 3 bolts so it wouldn't take that long.

I am 95% certain that your problem is your starter. The easiest way to check is to remove the starter, 2 bolts, and take it to Schucks or Napa and have it bench tested. The thing that you are looking for is current draw, not if the thing spins. Some of the idiots at parts stores don't know that, so make sure that you check for yourself. Good luck

Thanks guys, it was the starter. It was dead as a doornail. If anyone is curious you can bumpstart a 240 in 20ft, after 15 trys.
