help with wiring

I'm replacing an auto transmission with another one and before I take it out I just want to ask something. There are 4 wire connections on top of the transmission, right under the starter. The colors are 2 blacks and 2 light color with black stripes. How do I know which one goes where when I put the working auto transmission back on? The car is a 78 280Z.

uh...mark them? 2 of them should be the neutral safty swith, and the other 2 should be the backup lights, I'm not real familiar with the auto's but I'd thinkt eh wire connectors would be differnet to keep you from plugging them backwards

let's hope they only fit int he proper place. How do I know if I connect them properly or not when the car is running or running at all?
