First of all my wipers are doing weird things, coming on at random, then shutting off. Then the fuse blew and they didn't work at at etc. Replaced the fuse and they start coming on at random. Also the motor makes a terrible noise when they are running at anything shy of full speed, so I figure what the hell all new wiper stuff.

I did a lot of searching and I know that I need to replace the blue module down by the driver's foot, and the green guy in the engine bay next to the master cylinders. Also I'm going to replace the windshield wiper motor itself. Anything else you guys suggest replacing? Also does anyone happen to have part numbers for the blue and green thing, and/or the official name to make things a little easier with the guy at my local parts counter. I'm thinking NAPA should have a pretty good motor and I'll get the official Nissan stuff for the relay/control modules.

Thanks!

When you mention a blue box, do you mean the white one under the driver side kick panel? The Timing Control Unit is in the circuit setup, and it's white (at least on DOHC S13s, can't say for certain for a SOHC S13). The green box is the Wiper Amp.

Good luck finding them at a dealer. If your dealer can't find them, give the guys at Courtesy Nissan a call, they're parts department is very good at finding odd pieces in the national warehouse. Also, be prepared to pay out the butt for them as well. Electronics through dealers gets quite expensive :(

One thing you didn't have on your list is the stalk switch on the steering column.

Stalk switch tested good and is functioning well, so I think it's good. From what I could figure out it seems that the ignition switch(blue box behind the fuse box in the kick panel) is blowing my fuses over and over, and perhaps related, but perhaps just crazy coincidence the green wiper amp is outputting all kinds of weird voltages so I ordered them both from Nissan. 80$ later :(

Any info on where the timing control unit is/how to test replace it? Knowing my luck it's gone bad too. The motor is 90$ at my local auto parts shop, 390 at Nissan so I'm going to just hope it'll all work well with the new bits.

If your relay is bad, why are you replacing the green box?

I mean, it may well be a combination of things. But it may be none of those things.

Maybe you should open them all up, clean everything, repair/resolder any damage, and put it back together. And I'd try a 14 dollar replacement relay if you think that's the problem, before buying more junk you don't need.

The timing control unit is behind the driver's kick panel. It's a clear/white looking box. It controls seat belt lights, dimmer switch, warning light timing, and the washer and wiper.

When you say ignition switch, the only ignition switch on the car is the one you turn with your key. The blue box behind the fuse panel is the ignition relay. Base models get a 4 pin blue relay. SE models with power windows get the 6 pin brown relay. If that relay was bad, you'd have issues with your gauges, turn signals, and seatbelts. There's a blue accessory relay in the same area that supplies power to the wipers, but it feeds off the same 12v line that powers your cigarette lighter, rear wiper, and HVAC fuses. Which fuses are you popping? The relay might be getting cross current through the solenoid to the switched side of the relay, which could cause a short, popping the fuses.

I have a feeling if you're getting odd voltages out of your window amp, then it's gone bad.
