i need to know exactly how much backspace an s14 can fit on the front axle, using coilovers, with no regard for tire size. bare wheel only. i am looking at a wheel with a backspace equivelant to an 8" +49. I know this will not clear the shock tube. How much it needs to be spaced, i am uncertain. here is what i have gathered -

some guy says he is running 18x11.5 +0 on front axle, there is pics so the wheels fit, however i have been unable to contact him to check if the wheels are indeed zero offset, or to check what suspension he has. there was mention of lowering the car more later in the day, so i assume he has coilovers. if all this information is true then that would mean i would only need 5mm spacer to clear. this seems strange however, as i have never in my life heard of somone running an 8" +44 on an s14 front with coilovers and no clearance issues. i do not trust this info.

on tire rack, one of the wheel sizes they sell for s14 is 8" +40. tire rack is known for conservative fitments, but their testing is done on stock cars ie. shock and spring which give more inboard clearance than a coilover setup. So im not sure how far i can go with this information either.

the highest backspace wheel that i have used on my front axle has been a 9 +15 which is still 21mm further away than the wheel i am trying to check fitment on.

PLEASE - if you have high offset wheels, on an s14 with coilovers, ideally tein or KTS coilovers, please post your fitments!!!!

Some coilovers offer more/less clearance than others. He could have adjustable perches on stock style shocks.
