I've been tearing my hair out over a stupid short in my vert so maybe someone on here will be able to help. Basically I keep popping my dome light fuse but not all the time. It can be extremely random like while my car is parked and not running or as soon as I turn it off or even sometimes right when I pop a new fuse in. I gave up on this a while ago and run it without a fuse but have noticed some unusual symptoms. While driving the door ajar light, seatbelt light, warning chime and clock will randomly flicker or turn on solidly for a while and then flicker off even though the dome light fuse is out (which should mean these have no power). Anyone have any thoughts on what I should check?

Any help would be great. Thanks

The flickering is probably due to a worn out door anchor. Most convertible doors wear the nylon bushing out quickly, and this leaves wiggle room for the door to move when you go over bumps. Order a new one from the dealer, they're cheap. We also have a how to in the FAQ about slipping a bushing on your old anchor as well.

As for popping fuses, have you tapped anything off that line? That line is a constant and makes a good choice to tap into if you need something to be powered when the car is off.

Actually I took my stereo constant off of that line and used a different one due to the fuse blowing but it didnt fix anything. See the strange part about the flickering is that without that fuse in (which its not) the seat belt sensors, door jam sensors, clock and warning chime should not have power whatsoever yet they randomly get a flickering power source which I am assuming is the source of my short. I just figured that bit of information may help me narrow down the problem spot.

Oh and I recently replaced the door anchor bushings and repositioned the door anchors so that the fast paced flickering stopped but now it just turns on for an extended period of time and then turns off (without a fuse in place which under normal conditions would mean that everything that is turning on and off should have no power at all).
