Not sure on the I30... you should be able to find plenty in salvage yards since the Maxima unit will work too. I'd go ahead and get a true diagnostic from someone trained on the I30 or Maxima that knows how to use Consult. It'll cost some $$, but it's better than throwing parts at a problem.
Speaking of throwing parts at something... I had a buddy who kept throwing parts at his Chevy S-10, basically anything the guys at AutoZone told him might work. Ended up using an aftermarket O2 sensor that took out an alternator with a short, and damaged a solenoid in the transmission. End result - towed to dealer, new transmission, replaced the O2 sensor and alternator - got truck back after $2800 bill paid. That $89 diagnostic fee sounded like a deal after that!
