Ill start with the story, no point in making two posts. My reverse gear stoped working so I decided just to get the car back home to the garage. Im driving down the highway and mr. ricer hoda rolls up next to me. He downshifts, and I attemp to....Well the trans refused to get out of 5th gear. He takes off and is prob now telling his buddies how he destroyed a turbo 240

Now my problemMy car has been maual swapped now for about 600miles, I finally got to enjoy the new 6puck. I also am ka-t for about 3-400 miles now. I drive my car last night and everything was fine. I raced a charger srt-8 and lost since I missed 4th to 5th, but It was a buddies car and he said we will do it again somtime. I get home park the car in reverse. I leave this morning and everything was fine. I go to back into a friends driveway and I have no reverse anymore. I was thinking crappy megan racing short shifter so I decided to put my stock one in. Still no reverse. You guys think the syncros are shot or what? I need a new transmission is my guess since usally ka trannys are cheap. I know I can go to pick and pull, but I dont really feel like having to risk it being good or not. Let me get some input guys.

Unfortunately, I'm no transmission guru. If you dont' figure anything out, I do have a good transmission but I'm in St. Louis. If you can hold on till the beginning of July, I can probably deliver it to you as I have family up there and will be coming in for the 4th.

Thats alright man. I found another transmission off the chicago forums and should be picking it up today. I appreciate the help though.

Silly question but often overlookedDid you check your transmission oil level and hydraulics?

It is possible that you broke something inside the transmission but I highly doubt it.Drain the oil and check for metal particles, BIG metal particles.

It was drained when I took it out. The level was good. The drain plug had metal on it but nothing huge. It just refuses to go in reverse even with a oem shifter and good bushings. I think something broke internally that caused it not to go into reverse. It feels like somthing is blocking it and i just hear a faint click. Either way I have the new one in and everything is good. It even feels better than the last one, no grinds, very smooth shifts.
