I have a 1994 Q45. About 2 years ago I got 4 i30 17 in rims from a guy with bridgestone tires on them with about 90% tread left. The tire size is 215/55/R17. Before those I had the standard BBS rims on it and had a incident where my rear driver's side tired blew out while I was going 75mps on the highway and I lost control of my car and spun out. Needless to say I dont want that to ever happen again lol. Two of my tires have gone bad and now I need to just replace all of them. What size tires should I get? the same size that came on the rims or maybe a size that will better handle my Q since those tires were originally intended to be on an i30? Also, where is the best place to purchase them? I dont know much about tires and will be grateful for whatever help you guys offer. Thanks!

Do you know what year I30 those wheels came off of? Or how wide they are?

To my knowledge, no I30 ever had factory tires that narrow on 17'' wheels. Sounds like the previous owner put narrower than stock tires on. The I30 17s had 225s on them from the factory. Which is probably what I would do. 225-50-17 was the original size for the 17'' I30 wheels. Or slightly less tall sidewall with 225-45-17.Only 16'' I30 wheels came with 215s on them (215-55-16).

IF the wheels are wide enough, I would go with 245-45-17s. Probably the most ideal size for the Q with 17'' wheels.

As far as the tire blowing out, I would guess that that had more to do with tire condition than tire size. If you're concerned about avoiding repeats, though, don't buy tires with load ratings below 95 or speed ratings lower than V (unless you're buying winter tires, which can be hard to find with V ratings). But really any 225-17 you find should meet or exceed those criteria.
