Welcome to nico!
Ok, youve got much to learn about the 240sx chassis. First off you say you want a 98 240, right? No it doesn't come with a sr40det. all 240's from 1991 to 1998 came with the KA24DE inline 4 cylinder Dual overhead cam 155 hp, 160 lb/ft. torque engine, which looks like this:My engine:
Alright, about the engine. If you want an sr, you have to swap one in. In japan their right hand drive version of the 240 is called the silvia. It comes with the SR20DET, which is what i am guessing is the engine you are talking about. Most people do this, but i suggest keeping and turboing the KA. But being you don't know much about cars, hold off on the swap or turbo for a while.
s13 chassis: 89-94
Now i will give you some general info on the car: The 240 came into production in 1989 with the pignose front end:
and a single overhead cam 140 hp / 155 ft. LB torque engine :
Then in 1991 the car got a change. It got the DOHC engine(first pic) and a different front end:
the s13 is also offered as a coupe:
and covertible:
Convertibles came into play in 1992 i believe and in 1994, all 240 models were convertibles.
Now on to the s14.
The s14 started production in 1995 and from 95 to 96 came with the zenki front end.
My sexy pearl white zenki:
Dont mind the supra, its the best pic of my car at the moment.
Now on to the 97-98. in these years, they are referred to as the kouki front end: Its a little more agressive looking, and note these are expensive(12K or so) and are hard to come across
Thats your general 240 info there. Now there is so much more to learn. Just hit the blinking red search button in the top right corner, it is a newbs best friend. If you utilize this button, you can learn all you need to know about the s chassis, or tuners for your matter. I hope i helped and good luck with your new car. Read the info you get from the search and it will never let you down. There is so much to learn from nico! And others will chime in where i left off so keep checking your thread!
