Hi all.

Hope that someone can help, since i am totaly lost.

I have installed a FMIC last week, and originaly wanted to drop the viscous fan for some SPAL electrics instead. Eventualy i drove the car for 1 day only with the AC electric fan, and since it tended to heat up, i eventualy installed back the viscous fan and sorrounding , as it was before.

Now, for a few days all was well, until yesterday. All of a sudden, i noticed that my EGT gauge gives higher then standart readings, even when off boost, at cruising speeds. Flooring it at standart boost (7 PSI), it reaches about 1600F at about 180-190 KPH. My AF meter appears to show that all is well, and the car doesnt fell slugish. After a while, the car started to heat up, so i stoped to look whats wrong. The water in the expantion tank was boiling. In the same event, i noticed while looking under the boonet, that the electric fan that should engage when the Air Condition is on, doest work.I waited for the car to cool, and drove home without the Air Condition. All was well, and the car didnt heat up again, but the EGT was still reading higer then normal.

No water in the oil, no smells or leaks. No air in the water system. If i run a wire from the + terminal of the battery , to the Fan Relay (both of them), the fan starts working.Whatever makes the relay work and the fan start, is not doing it.

Could it be that one of the Temperture Sensors (probably the ECU one), is faulty , and hence the ECU thinks that the engine is cold, and thats why it doesnt engage the FAN? Allso, thinking that its cold, it Advances the egnition, and thats what causes the high EGT temperatures ?

Could it be any other connection ?

Does anyone know, what else could cause the A/C Fan, not to work - where is the Fan fues ?How can i check the temperature sensor? Where is it and how can i replace it ?

Thanks guys !

Your AC fan alone isn't able to push enough air to the cool your motor. Get a real engine fan deal goin if you've ditched your mechanical fan.

I'm a noob but I'm not lazy so I did a search... this topic came as close as I could find to my exact issue.I hate to piggyback, but where is the water temp sensor on the S14 SR20DET. I'm having trouble locating it as well, and if I did find it, what type of aftermarket gauge (if any) would fit or would I have to replace the sensor with the aftermarket one?
