I'm considering getting an old 240sx and swapping engines. how much would it cost to get a 91 240sx body and chassis and all, wiht a bad engine or no engine, in decent shape? also, if i get a front clip, its a lot easier then getting jsut the engine, but what else needs to be done besides changing out the parts? and how about the break, gas, and clutch pedals? basiccly, how much more $ do i need to put into the swap after getting the front end clip? thanks, matt

about a g and a half for the car described. the front clip will be about 2500 + shipping, and there are a few misc parts that help the install-go to the sport compact car webpage and click on tech articles and they have a good article that will point u in the right direction. the pedals will bolt up and pretty much everything works-it will cost about 1500-2000 to have it installed but the only hard part is the ecu which can be done for about 100 $. if ur doing it urself-put away about 3g's at least for the little experiencegood luck

you mean 3 grand for the motor & swap, or 3 grand on top of the car and sr20? i'd be getting a front clip with everything in it, and I got a buddy that works at an auto store and my dad's friend is a mechanic and former street racer (turbo probe gt, could take on vettes)

I've spent close to 4 grand AFTER my clip, and 1995 240.I'm have bought/or am in the process of buying:

1. Greddy V-Spec Intercooler 800.002. ACT Street Clutch 325.003. B&M Short Shifter 250.004. Walbro Fuel Pump 110.005. Iridium Plugs 57.006. Apexi N1 exhaust 450.007. Greddy Profec E-01 BC 544.008. Greddy Downpipe 160.009. Greddy Turbo Timer 89.9910. Blitz BOV kit 299.0010. Auto to manual parts 150.0011. Installation Costs: 1500 (includes auto manual)

Of course you wont need to purchase ALL these parts, but it does add up quite a bit, especially when you want the install done right the first time.

Then the car goes straight into the shop to get painted Silver, I am also installing a Carbon fiber hood and 2 Sparco black seats. And I want all this done by march 21st just in time for Tuner Bash at Daytona Beach. Car is in the shop now about to get the black top s13 swapped into it.

Does the hot pipe come with the Greddy kit? And of course don't forget all of the small stuff: belts, hoses, fluids, and various other miscelaneous parts. Oh, you'll probably want to get a test pipe or a high flow cat as your down pipe and the catback will be ~3". As for me, I may also be looking at a radiator(bought the car blown up and I don't know if it's any good) Plus I can see some of the bushings are wore out and possibly the motor mounts. My struts and brakes will also need to be replaced as they are wore out or rusted pretty bad. The best thing to do is add up everything you think you will need, then add about 1000 to it for other stuff that you may find out you need along the way.

well, here's my deal, i jsut want to get the BASE swap, nothing extra except maybe upgraded engine mount. I'd add a boost controler, intake, exhaust, BOV, maybe intercooler further down the road, but I'm just looking to buy a cheap car, and I mean relaly cheap, and drop a newer engine into it, so I can have a decent body, but old, with an engine and transmission that has low miles on it, and most sr20det's are under maybe 40k miles

well with an sr20det you HAVE to have an upgraded exhaust or you'd be restricting the turbo, and a upgraded fuel pump is very necesary. Are you going to install this yourself, wiring is difficult. Look at at least 1k for install costs. So with the engine I'd say 3,500 installed at least.

Well, I guess to give you an idea, here is what I have in mine so far:

1) 93 240sx coupe with blown motor and in pretty good shape $1000(I got antsy)2) Complete swap from AfterDark Tuning $2200 + shipping(mine was cheaper but I don't have an exact price yet).3)exhaust- found a very new used Apexi N1 dual for 3504)Fuel pump 1105)Down Pipe 1006)Test pipe probably 20(I havn't made it yet)7)Miscelaneous fluids, clamps, belts etc. 100

So I have about3900 into my swap including the car. Keep in mind that I am doing all of my wiring, have almost any tool you would ever need, have my own hoist, and the motor swap coming has everything with it(factory IC, ignitor, etc.) It is possible to get clean cars a little cheaper sometimes, but lately they have gotten very hard to get unless you jump on it immediately. I hope that this gives you some idea of what you're looking at for a complete BASIC swap.
