i'm trying to install a new deck because my last one got stolen and i'm having trouble getting sound to come through the speakers. i bought new pioneers when i had my last head unit. i was told that it was because of the amp turn on wire and active speakers, but i don't have a amp turn on lead from the original harness that connects to the adapter harness. i was also told to hook it up to the power antennae lead, but i dont have a power antennae on my '89 240sx. so what do i need to do?

i also posted this in the car audio forum, but i haven't gotten any specific responses

you can hook it up to the blue accessory wire. it should be connected to the red wire of the aftermarket harness. it only has 12v with the key on, just like a power antenna remote or a amp turn on lead.

so are you saying that i connect the deck's blue wire to the aftermaket harness' red wire? but then what do i do with the deck's red wire? do i connect both to the red ignition/accesory wire? i guess it would help if i knew which wires go to what from the head unit. btw its a sony xplod cdx-L600x

bust out your FSM(you do have one right?) and look at the wiring schematics for the stereo. what you need to do is connect the wires that go into the amp to the wires that come out from it, completely bypassing the amp which is a hunk of junk. unfortunatly you do have to look at an FSM because the wire colors don't match. i'd tell you which wire goes where but my buddy has my FSM

thanks for the help, my only problem is that my car doesn't have the light green amp wire. should i get it installed professionally? or maybe i should find anonther 240 owner in san jose. actually, i probably will just use the deck amp for all the speakers. anyone know how to do that?

that's actually the better choice to run all new wire and run direct from the new HU, than to run off the stock crap. it's pretty simple too. just buy a bunch of new speaker wire and run it to all the spots.

that's what i did. it's just a game of fishing the wire through the paneling. taking off panels....things like that.

i guess i'm gonna do that. do you know how to? does the deck's a power come out of one wire? and if so, how do i get it to all four speakers?

do you have a wirining diagram of the head units wires? there should be 8 speaker wires. 2 for each speaker, one negative and one positive for each.

to take the panels off, i'm not exactly sure for an s13, but basically, just look all over the door for little screws. take out every screw you see, there might even be some screws out of direct sight. after that, you just pop of the panel. be easy with it though.

no i don't have the wiring diagram for the head unit, but i'm sure its the same as the adapter harness. if anyone has the diagram for a sony xplod cdx-L600x head unit i could sure use it. how do i supply power to all four speakers from one wire?

i'll do a search on the door panel removal, i'm pretty sure someone's done it.

dude all of the power does not come from one wire, why do you keep saying that

coming out from the back of the head unit there is problably a red, a black, an orange or yellow or both, maybe a blue, then there will be 4 sets of 2 wires that match color, like:2 grey2 green2 purple2 pink

one will be solid, the other will have a stripe or black dashes-this is the negative. so you just get a ****ton of wire and run it directly from the headunit to the speakers

i know there are positive and negative wires that come from the deck. i just thought you guys meant to still use the adapter harness and and run a wire from the amp turn on lead to something.

so i basically bypass the entire harness then? does that mean that i have to cut the original harness, or can i keep some going to the adapter harness and juse get new wires for the speakers?

i was thinking about it today, and i was wondering if i could just remove the stock amps and attach the stock harness to the speakers instead of trying to run new wires through the car?
