Ok, I've been thinking about using an AEM EMS for my engine management. Need a few questions answered, AEM has been little help in answering and hope you guys can answer.

To start, I have an 95 240sx se that says it's ODB II but when I look at the pin outs from AEM for the 30-1610 and 30-1611 to try and figure out if the car is ODB-1 or II. Neither pin out matches perfectly, the ODB-1 pinout seems to be the closest, only one pin difference that i can see. How do I tell for sure?

Also, I want this setup to be extremly stable and reliable, what sensors should I use from AEM as well besides oil presure/temp, MAP, Air temp sensor, and O2 wideband?

If anyone wants to suggest another standalone that is around the same cost and supports a higher resolution and more features let me know as well.

It's not so much an issue of AEM having higher resolution than Haltech, Motec, Electromotive, MS2, etc., but rather an issue of ease of installation (uses factory harness), having bonus features (2-step, hi/lo boost mapping, auxillary controllers, etc.) and user-friendly software.

As for the pinouts, where are you getting your pinout?

Got the pinouts from AEM.

Heres what I posted on their site asking for responces

Quote »I am getting ready to purchase an AEM EMS for my 95 240sx. Here's the problem, I have looked at the two diagrams for the 1610 and the 1611 to determine which one will work with my car. It would seem that the car is OD1 because of the pin configuration, however there are some wires that should not be ththeres per the pin out yet are for ODB1, but others that are not there for the ODB2.

For example:Pins 115 not be present in the ODB1 config and should be there for ODB2 - and it is present

Pin 116 should be there on both ODB1 and ODB2 and is not

Pin 117 should not be there for ODB1 and should be there for ODB2 - it is not present

Pins 5 and 6 should not be there for ODB1 and should be there for ODB2 - they are both not there.

Pin 105 should be there for ODB2 and should not be there for ODB1 - it is not present.

So everything is straight except pins 115 an 116. Also, to further compliccomplicate, the car is listed as an ODB2 car on the emmissions under the hood. Please help with this.

Now, onto the other questions. As far as sensors go for the EMS on a 240sx. I will be running between 7-18 psi of boost, which MAP sensor should I use?

I will also be wanting to have a Air/Fuel mixture gauge to monitor the engine, and am planning on getting the wideband sensor regardless, would you recommend the serial gauges or getting the stand alone Wideband?

What is the best way to install the Temp Sensor for the Air?

Also, would I need the Coolent Temp Sensor or Exhaust Backpresure Sensor or Exhaust Gas Sensor? And would they help the performance the car in any way?[/quote]any help would be great!

Hmmm....I think that's gonna be somethin' for AEM to answer.

Looks like you're about to venture into "custom wiring" land. lol

That is not at all what I want to hear. I hope I'm just overlooking something and it turns out to be small and simple.

Look into Biki rom--does not have all the bells and whistles like AEM but it is just a daughter board soldered onto your main board (+ IT IS ALLOT CHEAPER)
