Hi

I just purchased a 2007 M35x. Wow, what a great car! The rims have a stain that looks like some kind of chemical corrosion from a cleaner that was sprayed on. I think they are unpainted alloys. Has this happened to anyone? Can I use metal polish to remove the stains?

Thanks for the Help

On the first picture you can see what looks like drips on the side of the rim spokes. In the second picture the stain is on the face of the spokes, the rim looks golden but it was just because it was taken at sunrise before I went to work. I don't get home until after dark.

often times car washes will put kerocine (dunno how to spell it) or a little gas in the basin they dip the wheel brushes in...

also if it is a oil based tire shine (rather than water based) it can corrode the surface face of the wheel if not cleaned off, and allowed to sit

hope that helps. (I was a traveling car wax salesman for a while so I know a little bit about what they put in these products.... go ol' FW1 lol)

as for a soloution... i would try waxing your wheels with a little spray waterless wax (ie: FW1) or using good ol' carnuba and try that way.

Edit: I just picked up my M35x today, and im fawking loving it!
