Can anyone help with the vacuum lines. I'm finishing up the swapbut seem to have trouble remembering where all the vacuum liines go. I tried looking up and calling Heavythrttle for help but their website wasn't all too clear and the guys are too busy to help out. Basically I need to know where each of the lines from the throttle body goes and about the canister near the stock I/C; it's got about 3 vacuum ports. I don't know how to connect them.Heavythrottle says it useless and that I should remove it and cap it off( whatever that means).

Another area is under the igniter chip (stock mount position), is a valve-like unit. It has about three vacuum line coming out. Don't know where it connects to.

Sorry- Just a newbie learning more about the sr's and doing the swap myself. Feel free to email a diagram of some sort - Thanks

That site was helpful but it didn't show the little valve-like unit mounted on the same bracket as the igniter chip. It's in the stock location. Is it the manual boost controller? if so then does anyone know how to hook it up? There are about 3-4 vacuum ports on it.

It also doesn't detail on the canister above the stock I/C.

I believe you are describing the stock boost solenoid. Are you going to run an aftermarket boost controller? If so, then remove the stock boost solenoid, as it won't let you boost above 10 psi, I think.

I plan to upgrade in the future, but I want to get it going first. Don't have the funds right now. Do you know how to hook it up?

and about the canister?

Don't remember how to hook up stock boost solenoid. (We just removed it, because we were using a boost controller) But with the canister just take it out. One vacuum line goes into a metal hardline that routes to the firewall and follows the brake and clutch lines over to the passenger side of the car, I just took out the entire hardline and put a small breather filter down where it comes up into the engine bay. Don't just plug it, because it's a vent for the gas tank. The other two lines just cap off. Hope that helps.

What line was supposed to hook up to the top of the canister? That way I know not to bring or tee the line to it.

I'm not sure what you mean? You shouldn't have to tee into any lines off the canister. Just trace the lines down. Find the one that goes down to the frame, turns into a hardline, and heads back to the firewall, that's the one to put a filter on. The other lines just cap off.

I understood about putting the breather on the hardline. It connects to the bottom of the canister. What I meant was what line was connectted to the vacuum ports on top of the canister.

The canister was hooked up to yoru original motor to some vaccume line or other. I think what you are being told is that in Japan they don't use vaccume canisters so there is no provision to hook yours up, so pull itout and trow it away. teh only line you nee dto worry about is the one that vent sthe gas tank that has already been discussed.

This is my interpretation of the discussion.

Well, actually they used that canister in Japan because I pulled it out of the front clip that I purchased. I thought it was needed to make the engine work, but after a little reseach and a few calls plus everyones posts, (thanks) that I learned about not needing it. The history of it (from Cartune) is that it was part of the emission control and that it connected to the AIV unit that was removed to make the sr work with the US 240sx's. So thanks everyone.

Thanks for the clarification, this will be helpful to me. I plan to keep my charcoal canister to help pass the visual here in Ontario. If I can do that, and then meet 1980 emission standards, apparently I can pass the e-test as a Hot Rod.
