SO i bought rims and found nice ones at a great price. I HAVE A 2008 nissan Rogue SL. i bought a set of 20's and plan on going with the only tire that really fits , which is a 245 40 20. Now i understand this will give me the same size as what i have now. I know im gonna get more road sounds and stuff a stiffer ride and a smaller tire. However i wanted to get springs and the only company who makes it is H@R. The guy at costco told me if i get 20's and lower ill be rubbing all over. Is this true >?? I dont understand how if i keep the same size as what i have now how this will rub . Did the engineers at H@R not discuss this ? I have the same offset except the rim is a 8.5 instead of 7.5 which is stock but everything else is the same . So im comfused .. if these dont fit properly i might have to sell the rims. I hate the gap on the Rogue so this would help greatly but 20's and a huge gap :werd:

Don't double thread just keep the post in the other thread.
Could possibly rub the wheel well.
And could cause problems when you turn the wheel.
If your worried about wheels rubbing just wait til you blow your shocks and ruin LCA bushing from lowering.
It's probably gonna throw off your camber too.
Reason it does this is because it throws off the Rogues center of gravity.
Not saying you shouldn't lower it but I'm just giving you the facts of it.

no difference if you get the same diameter as original. I used to have murano 20s with 245/35/20 and there was a huge gap. So go ahead lower it if you'd like but make sure to post a few pics over. Original 17" wheels w/ tires were 26" and murano wheels with these tires about 26.2" Here's my set of last year so you can see there's plenty of space to lower the car:

eddnog removed his HR springs and gave them to me... I have had them on the rogue since january and ever since i have had a blown shock... lowering the rogue looks amazing, yet puts a huge strain on the stock shocks...Sadly there are no aftermarket shocks that fit the rogue to help it handle the HR springs... Its either risk blowing shocks and pay to replace them or dont do the springs at all....i am strongly considering removing my HR springs due to the cost of new OEM shocks

Eddnog removed them because of how uncomfortably stiff they were.
EddNog wrote:Bringing back an old thread from the grave, but just wanted to announce that I have switched back to stock springs; the H&R springs from Europe for the Qashqai made my Rogue quite fun to drive on smooth roads, but with New York metro area's roads getting seemingly worse by the week, the jarringly stiff ride had become not worth the difference.
I cannot imagine how a lowered Rogue on 20's would ride. 'Harsh' might be putting it mildly!
TRANCEBOY wrote:also what happens when a shock is blown
The car will bounce like a baby carriage over the bumps and the handling will deteriorate.

SenorPayne7 makes a valid point about stock shocks and aftermarket springs. The higher spring rates found in most aftermarket lowering springs make the shock work much harder and eventually fail. I've seen it happen many times on lowered cars including my own.

Sadly, there are NO off the shelf shock upgrades available for the Rogue. You would have to get custom made or re-valved shocks which could easily set you back $1000 or more.
Did he get the H@R springs ?
Yes, they are H&R's. Eddnog was likely the very first Rogue owner to install them. He actually imported them from Europe as they weren't available in the US yet.

$115 ea for the front, $70 ea for the rears.

Ok i must say im scared to add the springs now. But i looked up rogue shocks and a few things came up on ebay. Does anyone know anything on this subject. Also how bad does the gap on the rogue look with aftermarket rims. I have seen a few and hate that ugly gap.

On the other hand EDDNOG used H@R springs for the Qashqai, but i looked up for the rogue and they do make them. Is their a difference ? Also I live in Miami so the roads are flat and paved, does his mean i wont have problems or should i expect them ?

^^^ Doesn't matter how bad the road. The shocks are always in use.
When its parked its under pressure due to cars center of gravity.
When your brake the shock is in use. When you get in the car the shocks in use.
Bad shocks/struts will effect braking, handling, acceleration, speed, and protection of other car parts.

They should be the same as the Rogue and Qashqai are basically the same vehicle.

Personally I would wait until your warranty is up and then start modifying it, unless you're comfortable doing some of your own repairs.

As for shock fitment, I haven't looked underneath the Rogue yet since my wife drives it daily and it rarely sees any time in the garage. But a macpherson style strut, which I assume it uses up front, should cross match with another Nissan. The dampening and stroke may be off a tad, but generally all the new vehicles weigh in close to each other and should work. I'm not saying its going to be direct bolt on, but generally speaking, another Nissan of the same era will usually have something that will fit another, with or without modification. The rears should be easier to find a replacement for if its a standard type separate shock and springs assembly.

No matter what type of vehicle, I've heard nothing but good results with H&R springs. If you're looking to lower the vehicle mainly for aesthetic reasons with a small increase to performance, these won't let you down.

If the Qashqai is the same as the Rogue could i get the shocks for it >/? Can anyone take a look at the ones on ebay /?

I have my 20 inch tsw croft wheels. 245,40,20 tires,

should i get the H@R springs for the rogue

or can i get the eibach springs for the Qashqai
ebay also has ventura springs ? anyone heard of this brand ?

what are these numbers ??

REAR Shock Absorber Nissan Qashqai 1.5 07-/
REAR Shock Absorber Nissan Qashqai 1.6 07-/

eibach lowers
LOWERS* FRONT:30mm / REAR: 30mm

Ventura Racing Lowering Springs
Lowers Front: 35mm
Lowers Rear: 35mm

H@R

30/45mm

FOR NISSAN ROGUE LOWERING SIZE IS

Front Drop: 1.4"
Rear Drop: 1.3"

Can anyone tell me why , they made the nissan rogue different size drop between front and rear. Should i then go with the Eibach since it will be an even lower ?

as much as i have enjoyed having the springs they change the ride so much. There is a significant difference when going over any bumps, both big and small...

If you live in an area where the roads are smooth and dont plan on traveling far in the car, go for it and put the springs on..

I will most likely be removing them near christmas..(my break for winter since i am in college)

TRANCEBOY,

I can understand your desire to get as cheap as possible price on shocks and springs. But the way you are going about it is going to lead you to troubles down the road. Cheap, unknown brand suspension components aren't going to last or fit properly. Worse yet, you may end up making the vehicle dangerous to drive.

Either spend the money to do it right, or don't bother.

If I can make a suggestion...

Take your time and do one mod at a time. You have the wheels and tires. Mount them on your Rogue and see how it looks. You may find the gap is acceptable.
