I've got a set of 18 inch Falken Torque5's. I got some pretty nasty curb rash and was wondering if there was anything at all I could do to fix it. Its on the spokes themselves, not the chrome. They are gunmetal too...is there anyway I can color match them and maybe touch them up at all?

Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks alot.

Without pictures there no way we can assess the damage.

We cant read minds.

Hey man...chill...

I understand that no one is a mind reader...it just happened about 15 minutes ago and I was like shyte. I was just seeing if people have done it before and if anyone has fixed them at all. I'll get some pics up after my classes end at 3.

Chill? Im not worked up at all.

But to actually provide useful information, I need to see how bad the damage actually is. Without pictures my mind can either interpret surface scrathes or deep gouges. Both would require differant types of repair.

Without pictures my advice would be irrelevant.

Yeah, picture would help. I've seen several different damages and fixes and sometimes you are better off buying a new one because repair cost is close to price of actual rim. Special color/finish/texture will be hard to reproduce and match 100% perfect. I just checked Torque 5 and gun metal 18 is $135 here.

Well, as far as I know, most places that fix rims charge $100+ for the perfect repair. I don't know how they do it, but they make it looks like new. If you are a picky person, I would get a new one. Just my 2 cents...

whiterps13: sorry...I'm just pissed cause I did this. I'm always so FVCKING careful...but then I do this...anyway here is a pic of it...its the onlyone that turned out decent...but I can describe it pretty well too...It feels as if someone took like...80 grit sandpaper and just scrapped it. All of the finish is off...its down to the bare metal.

again I know your not worked up...I am...so sorry.

94_240sx: I sorta figured that...but I cant exactly afford new rims right now...I mean luckily I'll be taking them off to put on the stockers for winter...so I wont be running them long...Or should I take them off now?

thanks to both.

Oh!! Got it. I would be mad and frustrated too if I were you. If it's just the finish, definitely it'll be cheaper than $100. You might want to check with powder coating place. If you take it to wheel repair shop, they will also powder coat/paint it for sure. I would check with local car guys and drop by reputable powder coating and wheel repair shops.

It's weird because I saw those rims with exact same color during lunch time yesterday. They were on Accord coupe BTW. I saw FALKEN on the lip and thought it was pretty neat.

I am 100% in love with these wheels. The only thing I would have changed is I would have tried to get a little more lip on them...but I dont think it was possible for my Max. Not only so this wouldnt have happened...but just cause I like a lip.

But I can say my tires saved my chrome lip... they are falken zien's or whatever (currently dont recall the name...but anyway) they have a rubber lip that sticks out a little past the rim to protect it...save my *** there anyway.

So ok...thanks...I'll have to check it out.

Oh thats absolutely nothing to be worried about. If its just the finish, any paint booth or powder coating places can easily take care of it.

When I see 'curb rash', I think of actually damage to the metal of the wheel (ie. gouges, chunks, or bends).

Apology accepted. It wasnt that big of a deal, but thanks.

Yup! That's exactly what I thought too and that's what you would normally see.

No problem. and thanks...thats a relief. Granted its going to cost money...at least its easily fixable.

Another quick question...would it be bad to still run them for a while?? I was going to go home for halloween and take them off then...but will that bare metal rust at all or cause me any problems untill then? Other than it looking bad of course

Thanks to both of you guys!! You really helped out...whenever I get them fixed (not really sure when that will be...) I'll make sure to post an after pic on here to show you how it turned out.

I dont see why it would be harmful to keep them on. The exposed metal might oxidize or get some surface rust, but youll be getting them refinished anyways.
