I posted about this awhile ago but didn't have a pic to show everyone what I meant. I finally got one taken. Basically the question was, does anyone else have this welded metal section blocking off the rear shock mounts of their S14? This will obviously not allow for a Rear STB to be mounted the way most bars are designed for this car.

I am very aware that Cusco makes one that goes over the top of the mounts over the rear deck, however I'm just concerned with this current situation.

Does anyone else have this problem on theirs?

so have you already purchased a RSTB?'Cause I'm pretty sure that it would be self explanatory. You're going to have to either settle for one that goes over the speakers (like cusco), or you can cut an opening out for a custom RSTB to fit. The fact that you'd be cutting structural points means that you're weakening the chassis, just to stiffen it. So if you're going to go through that much trouble, just weld a pipe b/w the strut towers. IMO, I think you should just get the cusco one, and save the trouble. It looks neat, too.

Yeah thats definately not cool. I have bought 2 different bars for the back that vendors have told me WOULD WORK. I have even explained to them the deal with the rear and they still say it works. Then I get both of them, both of course don't work at all. I would sell them on Ebay but don't want to be a d*ck to the next person buying them.

Hey, RWmotion, who makes those RSTBs? are they the no name ebay brands, or ones that aren't cheap? That's why I trust brands like cu$co and Ni$mo. I know they are expensive compared to ebay brands, but I for one, think that there's a reason for the price--quality and fitment. Whether or not that quality is worth the extra $ is up to the consumer. For simple stuff like Front STB, go el cheapo, but for a vehicle specific application (not just a strait bar like the S14 rear, or WRX front), I think you should go w/ a company that knows that car. Just my $0.02

Karay240,

There was another post regarding cheap/expensive STB's a while ago so I won't go on and on..........but I disagree with what you said about the "for simple stuff like front STB go el cheapo".

I went "el cheapo" on the front (S13) and I paid for it. It didn't fit right, and when I eventually got it in, it caused the underside of the hood to rub against it. I learned my leason with the E-Bay route and stepped up to JIC Magic for the front........perfect fit and the hood closed!!!

However, for the back I went Pilot RSTB for $45 from Phase2!!! Perfect fit and it really made a difference in handling. I guess you win some and lose some; and I'm a hypocrite!!

lol, yea, there are several horror stories like that I've heared of. I've never heared one on a STB, though. . . mostly body kits and the likes. I wish you'd have told me that earlier, 'cause I just bought a set for my S13. :( not from e-bay, though. one of the "el cheapos" from our vendor.

wonder if those "S14" Rear STB's will work on the S13. . . I think it's worth a tryIF they happen to work, you could sell them on ebay as "S13" rear STB's. just a thought. 'cause I know you don't want them to go to waste.
