Hey everyone, I could really use some help, or at least some good advice.

Would anybody in the Seattle area be interested in doing an RB20det swap into a 92 240sx convertible for me? Or can you recommend someone, or a good shop?

Here's the story. I posted a little while ago about a group buy that I want to organize for clips. I am still negotiating with this company on pricing to make it worth doing. But, I want to test their product and service before I make any recommendations to others on this board.

I bought a '92 240sx convertible in the Seattle area. It's got a bad timing chain, so I don't want to risk driving it home. I am looking at $850 to ship it to my home in Wisconsin.

I want to get an RB20 clip from this company which will actually arrive in port in the Seattle area. Shipping the clip will be at least $500.

So I am looking at total shipping costs of $1350+. My thinking is that if I can get someone to do the install for me, it would save me some money. I would only have to spend $200 for a plane ticket and another $150 for gas to get home plus a hotel room or two i guess... Plus, how fun would it be to drive my new 240 convertible with an RB20 home from Seattle to Green Bay!!!

I will of course ask the seller of the engine if they will do the install for me, but I need to hedge my bets if they will not... That's why I am posting here.

I would be willing to pay for the time spent! I am not asking for free service (as nice as that would be!). I am also not in any time crunch, so I wouldn't need it done in any kind of rush.

So, would anyone be interested in helping me? If not, does anyone recommend any good (fair priced) shops in the Seattle area?Anyone have any other ideas for me?

Thanks a ton to anyone who can help me out! I would really appreciate it.

hey plai,

Depends on what time of day it is when i am passing through. But, I would love to stop and chat with another NICO member.

I will let you know when I am making the trip.

Looks like I will be having DDX (Drag Drift Autox) do the swap for me. Talking with Luis and his buddy Robert. They are awesome! Very helpful so far. We are just trying to work out the details and the little stuff now, and then they are going to do the swap for me. I think... I have one other option.. but most likely DDX.

I will post here with detail as they go.

plai,

I will be driving home through the twin cities in the afternoon on Monday, August 9th.

If you want to get together for a bit.. I am game.. it would be a nice break for a while during a long day of driving.

later. Seth

Try getting ahold of Ryan at RS Imports in Bellingham...http://www.rsimports.vze.com I know they sell the RB motors, Ryan there is installing an RB20 in his car, and might be willing to do yours for a reasonable fee.

Jon,

thanks for the reply. The car is actually already being worked on. I was really impressed with Luis at DDX in Bremerton. He and Robert Luneau (the guy doing the install for me) are awesome. They are giving me what I feel is a great deal. So, thanks for the referral.. but I'm already set.
