I just recently pulled my stereo from my 1990 Pathfinder to put it in my President. I got it all wired up, I have power and sound, but after about 20 seconds I hear a beeping noise, about 20 beeps, and the stereo shuts off.

Is there a security code I need to input to make it work? I've looked into it and this looks like the issue but I can't find any codes online. Does anyone know how to get the code?

The stereo/tape deck make is Matsushita, Model no. 28115 86G15, serial no. 31940.

Any help is appreciated.

call the dealer...when I worked at circuit city we had to call the dealer for codes when we were putting the factory radios back in. they will ask you to prove you own the car with the radio in it, but they will give you the code.

So I called the dealer and they claim Nissan radios don't have codes, but other companies like Hondas do. I called 2 dealerships, one guy said it must be a separate issue because there is no code. The other dealership was clueless after I mentioned it's a 1990 Pathfinder, "before his time".

Is there another dealership anywhere in North America that might be able to help me? I've tried to look up Matsushita Electronics but can't find an english speaking service centre.

Thanks.

try to google the manufacturer for it. That may be the best way on a 1990, my dealer almost scoffs when i say my truck is 91. Nissan needs to get better dealers. or call courtesy nissan in texas they are a great dealer and will go the extra mile for owner. www.courtesyparts.com should have a phone number on that site for them, good luck and post back when it is fixed.

Are you sure the radio you're installing is from a Nissan? Nissan has delt almost exclusively with Clarion for as long as I can remember. Matsushita doesn't ring a bell... maybe it's from a different car?

Also, keep in mind that if your President is set up like the US market Q45, each speaker has it's own amplifier - so you need to be feeding them with line level pre-outputs rather than a fully amplified deck like one from a Pathfinder.
