After many hours searching this fine forum of yours I am still having a problem with my 1989 Q45.The car has sat for the last four months & now will not start. I have gone over the car fault finding & can say it seemes to not be getting REF & SYNC pulse's. I have got this far but not too sure where to look at now. Is there a known problem with these cam & crank angle pickups?I have come to this conclusion from checking injector & ignitor triggers while cranking, the tacho does not budge while cranking & the fuel pump isnt working.

I tried jumping the fuel pump but that still doesnt seem to pressurize the fuel rail or makes any noises.

Are the crank angle pick ups 3 wire? Does anyone know if the pins should be 8volt-Signal-Sensor Gnd???

Would appreciate any ideas as after many hours of trying Im not getting anywhere with it.

Thanks.Murdoch

Are you sure the fuel pump hasn't simply "given up the ghost" ?The fuel pump should run as soon as you turn the key to "ON".

Do you have a Factory Service Manual?

If not, then here you go: http://phatg20.net/modules.php...d=203

I posted a copy of the CAS wiring in another thread, perhaps it would be of some use as well.zerothread/181566

The rail should pressurize in a second, at least enough to begin to start.Step #1 measure fuel pressure after [with a tee] the fuel filter output line.

Common for defective gasoline [any gasoline that sits unused in a tank for more than 1-2 weeks] to cause problems.

Even Infiniti is warning that a certain minimum number of miles should be driven per month [M45] to maintain warranty/performance......weird huh......but they know how bad our gasoline really is. Not too relavent to the old Q but maybe.

I not sure 4 month old gasoline will burn..........doesn't work in my lawn mower/weed whacker.

There are some retailers online that could supply you OEM Infiniti parts, and I sure that Joe from Scottsdale Infiniti could supply the part probably for less money. At least from an infiniti Dealer you know that the part you get is compatible with your Q
