Hey guys,

I'm getting some s#i7 quotes for a replacement top+install from local dealers in NJ. I live in Marlton, NJ (Burlington County). Now, I know that people sell tops on ebay for 300 bucks, and I've been told that install should only be another 3-500. Is this right?

I was just recently quoted 1000 total for a "higher grade" top (whatever that means) plus install from a local shop. Comes with 3 year warranty.

Anways, any NJ/Philly cats on this forum know of any reputable places?

Thanks a million guys.

PS: Anyone need a tapedeck for the 240? I'm looking to throw it away - if you want it, just pay shipping.

Hi,I'm looking to replace mine in a couple of weeks too. I got price ranges (for installation only) from about the same price range 400+ to 600+. One guy would not even install it if I bought if of the net! I am replacing mine for 450 soon. A friend of mine did his car there and recommended me. I also need to replace one of the bows on the top (360.00 at the dealer ) and still need to get the top...Can someone who has bought their top from eBay or other place on the net tell us some differences and details on the quality of the fabric? And how is it withstanding the weather (rain), if any? Thanks in advance

/Luis

jcwhitney sells vinyl tops for our cars, in a ton of different colors, for around $550 if you are interested in something a little different. Here in houston you can get tops installed for around $250, but its a big city with a lot of cheap garages. I have been reading through a borrowed convertible FSM supplement and the procedure defintely looks like you could do it yourself, the FSM walks you right through it.

"WANGAN WITH MY WANG OUT????" OHHH MAN I love that. hahahahaha.

thanks for the replies guys - I've been doing some more investing too. I would love to do the top job myself - if I was still a bit younger and had the time. Honestly, I got a wife, 2 kids, and work 12 hour days. So it's a bit hard to get personal things done.

That said - I just picked up some ICE (damn, had the car less than a week and I'm up to my old tricks again) and gonna work on that this weekend.

BTW: Is their a PDF file of the install anywhere on this site? Where I can download the thing and check it out for myself? Most people tell me the same thing - it's not hard to install...just VERY VERY VERY tedious and takes a HELLA long time.

I have AZ hitman's convertible supplement and I am trying to copy all the most pertinent sectinos (top, headliner, rear window, 1/4 windows, hydraulics, etc). I'm not sure if he is ok with it but I'm sure nissan doesn't care anymore (since as far as I can figure they haven't produced the supllment in years. I stopped by a dealer and he said they consider cars older than 10 years to be "no longer serviceable or out of their serviceable life" and accodingly don't carry parts/manuals for them anymore). Anyway if I copy it into loose leaf papers then perhaps I can find someone with a document feeder and a scanner to make a pdf copy of it. It sure would be an asset to the online convertible community, and nico would be the only one to have it (if they wanted to host it, keeping in mind the copyright issues). If not then I know a few other sites that would (that have a bunch of FSM's up already).
