So this is a continuation from another thread in the technical forum:
car-won-t-start-no-oil-pressure-reading ... 65841.html

But I get a feeling nobody visits that section often. Mine are the last 3 posts of the thread, just looking for someone with more experience who might have a hunch as to what the problem is because right now I'm clueless and unsure if this will be covered by warranty at a dealership. Thanks

25 psi at idle is (all other things being equal) an acceptable oil pressure. My psi is right at 30 once I let the engine warm up but after my hour long commute the idle psi can vary between 20 to 30 psi. I can't find it in the FSM but when I was concerned about my psi I was emailing back and forth with a Nissan Master Tech and got the following response:

"According to the service manual oil pressure readings are more then 1.0 ATU or 14 PSI at 1,000 rpm idle speed and more than 43 psi at above 2,000 rpm."

I don't know that I'd be happy with 14 psi but I'm ok with 25. Still, with your coolant issues it's best to keep an eye on the the gauges and check the oil level more frequently than you normally do until you can make sure that there isn't a problem lurking under your hood.

Is your Z manual or auto? (Bonus points for members that know why I'm asking this)

although, i gotta plead ignorance on the connection your makin, bb. hint as to the tale-tell symptom in question atleast? :gotme

op, those pressures dont sound to far outside the norm. if it peggs and stays pegged, a google search says its probably the sending unit. it could be on the way out. (pressure sending unit)

good luck.

Damn my eyes!

I was asking if it was an auto or manual because if it were a manual he would have a VQ35 RevUp - prone to oil consumption. Low oil level, lower psi - oil consumption...potential badness all around.
