Help with not being able to fully rev to redline.

I have been having a problem with my tach wire from the ecu not working... Finally someone from the forums told me about a light green wire in the igniter that I can hook into. This works great, however now when I rev it will hit the rev limiter at just under 6 grand. Is this normal or is the yellow wire with the red stripe messed up? Thanks for the help
