Hey, I bought an older style used apexi power meter and I got it all hooked up today but the only thing that happens is when the ignition is turned on the needle sweeps across the gauge (like most do) but thats it. It doesn't do anything when I drive around or rev the engine at all.

Here is a picture of the diagram that came with it:

Here is how I have the wires connected:

I just re-wired it in case of a bad connection, same results.

Although when I got it turned on for the first time I noticed the gauge was getting pretty warm so I looked at it inside my hoody to block the light and there was a backlight and one that lit up the needle, now there's just a red light that can barley be seen through where the needle sticks through the gauge face. I don't know if that has anything to do with it? I checked the fuse on it and it didn't blow so im going to try to replace the bulb and see if it works? I guess..

Anyone?

The instructions also say; When using any device that changes the air flow meter signal (also fuel cut prevention devices) connect the green wire of the unit ( air intake volume signal wire) to the inbound side wire (air flow side) of the device.

I know it tells me exactly what to do but im kinda confused. Do I connect it right off the ecu? Or on the other side of the fuel cut? What if the fuel pump switch is on? wouldn't the gauge still work if it's all connected?

Anything can help, thanks.

I just took the gauge apart, I noticed some black soot lookin stuff on the back of the gauge cover. I'll take some pictures in a little bit and post them. I'd like to know if I can get it fixed or rewired maybe?

What's the other side of that board look like? The cap or diode might be dead.

The other side of the board looks just fine. There's no black spot or anything that doesn't look normal.

OK, so I figured out the problem

This is how I had it wired

The green and orange were backwards that's all. Glad it was an easy fix though. I'll post a video if anyone wants to see it work.

First - you have original manual and this good.
(my restored version - http://shuraru.tripod.com/Apexi/Apexi_power_meter.pdf)

Seconde - about black soot.It 'sall right. This is stabilitron, it stabilises pressure with 12 to 5 volt and is strongly heated thus.

Third - wiring diagrams from manual is NOT RIGHT.
This is a first publishing from Apexi and have mistakes.
Checking all manuals (RSM, AFS and ect.) on http://www.apexi-usa.com/.
They are updated.

Fourth - Check up all soldering connections ,they can have cracks.

And not touch needle! Not remove It!!

When I began restore instruction beside me was not nothing except vehicle specific setting table. For wiring diagrams im take info from
manuals RSM and SAFC.
But when i has got the copy to original instruction I have seen the discrepancy of the diagrams. In the most last (7) to versions Apexi have avoided all defect. The Problems were with RPM, the ground and IG power. With air intake pressure signal like no.
Latest version RSM in english:

Next, i change lamps to LED.Lamps much warmed device and this I did not like.I show what i did.

Next, I use the additional wire for illumination device in the night. Since constant illumination I have not like too.

About green board - you right. This in black box. He has two earrings with each side.

About tail wire - so, you need find wire (+12V) when you turn lights on car in night time. I mean this wire. And connect with him.

Sorry for my bad english, think you understand about than I.

Oh ok, I got it know lol.
Thanks for all the help man, i'll be doing this in a couple months probably.

Do you happen to have a video of yours working? I just want to see if your needle moves smoother than mine. Mine seems kinda jumpy but that's probably just how they are.
