A good polish should fix that. And if that doesn't work, you could use a rubbing compound, but don't forget to wax it afterward.

And if all else fails, just take it to a detailer and they can buff it out.

Yeah your first mistake was using a credit card in my opinion, that is the best way to scratch your car when removing badges. Im sure the scratches will buff out though no worries.

So what's the proper way to debadge your car?

heater gun or hair dryer to loosen the glue. then it will just peel right off

I would also add, that using fishing line or something similar to separate it from the car also helps in conjunction with using heat.

Yes, i agree, i had the same problem when I took off the emblems aswell. I did it with a little mixing plastic spatula, you know the kind used to mix epoxy/ fiberglass/ bondo?! I didn't use any sort of heating gun on it, but they came right off leaving behind that "dull look" on the paint, I've used, compound, wax, buffing... a few times and finally it looks better!

I guess dental floss and hair dryer it is

So, regular soap and water can get out the goo?

Also, do I have to wax my whole car if I only want to wax and polish the part where the embelems were? Will it look weird if only that one part is polished?

No, it will not look weird just polishing that one section. I used a non-toxic product called Sticky Out by Elmers Glue and it worked great. No fading of paint whatsoever.

De-badging is always the first thing I do whenever I buy a new vehicle. I always use a heat gun on the lowest setting, and a glass stick. A glass stick is can be bought at any autoglass place. I also bought a commercial grade solvent from them that will only take off glue and not paint. What ever you do, don't use anything acetone base. As for your scratches, mothers makes a 2 step compound that you can use. Buy those two things and that Mother's ball pad thingy and your scratches will be athing of the past. hope that helps you out!
