i recently installed a hotshot header, and while im driving with overdrive on and it's hot outside, i can hear something rattle like my old heat shield. whenever i press on the accelerator it rattles louder and my car seems to lose power. i dont know if it's an exhaust leak, or if my headers aren't tightened enough. But today, i decided to turn off overdrive to see if the it would help any, and it kind of did. it got rid of the rattle a big, and it felt like i regained the power my car was losing. u can still hear the rattle a tiny bit, but everything is good. what could be the problem?????? thanks in advance....

1 easy way to check for an exhuast leak is to run seafoam (or some like to use a bit of soap). If there is a leak, sea foam will start smoking wherever the leak is.

Also, how are your motor mounts? The hotshot header does like to get close to the firewall - at least on my sohc, the o2 sensor is right up on the firewall - perhaps it's rattling then.

Also, check your exhaust hangers.

YET ANOTHER thing to check, does it do this under no load (i.e. put it in neutral and rev it, see if it makes a sound). Does it do it in a lower gear - basically 2.

So it doesn't do this at night when it's cold? Does your car idle and everything normally otherwise?

How long has it been since install?

Mine too a few days for the idle to correct itself and all the crap/oil what not to get out of the header/exhuast system when I was dirtily handling stuff & for the ecu to adapt to the new upgrade.

My motor mounts are actually good, nothing rubbing against the firewall. Hangers are good also. When I rev the car, and also when the car is at idle i don't hear it. It only occurs when the car is usually hot, on a hot day.

Also today! DAMN MY CAR!!!! I was driving and it was a hot day too! and all of a sudden it didn't want to run faster then 15mph! It like bogged. Even when I pressed down hard on my accelerator it still bogged, and didn't want to run faster than 15mph.... Could this problem be related to the transmission or MAFS?

Kind of getting tired of my car lol... i might trade it in =\

also to add to ^^^... could my cat be the problem also? i've been smelling rotten eggs lately while driving for a while. could this cause my car to bog?

When going only at 15mph, is the car not revving past 2k rpm? If it's not going pass 2k rpm, that means there's something w/ the maf or maf wiring -> car going into safe mode.

Yes, rotten eggs is your cat, hahaha.... I have a hi-flow cat & Trust catback exhaust available - fix your current problem first though, haha.

the rotten egg smell is the car running extra-rich which could be caused by a MAF. that doesnt mean teh cat has gone to crap just yet. fix your running rich problem first. then worry about the cat
