Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I'm hoping somebody may have a solution. I have a 2004 Infiniti QX56 with around 100k miles on it. Up until these past couple weeks, I haven't had any problems with the cara as it has only required standard maintenance. That has changed lately.

I was driving on the highway between 50-60 when the engine, without warning, suddenly shut off. When this happened, the check engine soon, brake light, etc.. sensors began flashing in the dash. I glided into the breakdown lane and shut the car off. I was able to restart it immediately as if nothing had happened. I drove right to the dealership. They felt it may be a sensor problem, so they replaced the sensors. The car drove fine for a week, but today the same problem happened three times on the way home. I don't think the dealer knows what is wrong, so I am hoping someone out there has encountered a similar problem and has a solution? Please help out a fellow Infiniti owner on this one! Thanks

What "sensors" did they replace? Take the car back to the same dealer and have them go over it again. What codes did they discover when reading the ECU?

You are in the correct Forum, but please complete your profile.

One needs to realize that "standard maintenance" is the minimum required to get the vehicle beyond standard warranty period so the big stuff fails on your dime and not on theirs.

As an example, have you ever mechanically exchanged your ATF? Added an auxiliary ATF cooler? Checked its color smell and level?

Not your problem now, but will be soon. Did the dealer measure fuel pressure? If your truck (separate frame and body) is like the VK in the F50 Q45, the filter is in the tank, but It surely needs changing by now? Ever run BG44K or Redline SL1? Iso-Heet? Do you have ethanol in the fuel in your area?

I agree with the guys above me. Your description is a little vague. A car can and does die for one or multitude of crucial engine sensors or control units. If you can give us a slightly more descriptive analysis of what is going on.

-Maxnix- The QX has a front mounted transcooler. Some of the original ones leaked fluid and required new hoses and clamps to resolve that.

Had a couple that did this and was caused by the IPDM. Get some more info.
