I reckon that the cars WITH surround sound (speakers in seats) use the same actual radio head unit, but most likely use a different amp and wiring schematic. Assuming you can find used tech package seats, they probably a different seat wiring harness and different amp wiring harness that includes the extra speakers in the A pillars and seats. You would basically have to strip the interior out and re-build it just to add the extra 6 speakers and re-wire the new amp from scratch.
Just as a guide, a new front seat for a surround sound car is about $3,000 new (you need 2). The amp needed for the surround system is over $500, and if the seats don't come with the speakers installed, they are over $120 each (you need 4). Then there is the wiring harness and no telling what that could cost. Assuming you could find these items used, hoping they will work for a decent amount of time, it's still thousands of dollars. For that kind of time and money, you may want to consider trading your M plus some cash for a similar or slightly newer model that already has the packages you want.
Your year and model in great shape even with 100k miles should fetch at least $10-12,000 and I've seen 09's fully loaded with less than 100k miles for about $14-16,000. Any model from 2007 to 2010 will still have your body style and any model after 2007 will have the brilliantly stunning white-blue instrument panel lights.
