What's going in people. Hope all is well. I'm new to owning my 07 M35X. I did drive one for a few months earlier this year. The one I drove had what I'm guessing is the advanced technology package with rear input which is how I used my aux cord. It also included speakers in the seats. My current M doesn't have this advanced package so I'm searching for Solutions of what to install for bluetooth radio and aux. My question for today which I'm hoping someone can help me with is, has anyone ever upgraded their basic M35 system with an advanced one? Meaning if I was to find M35 seats with the bose speakers in the shoulder, could I get them installed in my car and have the speaker system ran to the current one? Or is that just something exclusive to the advanced tech package?

Welcome to the forum.

Can't really suggest a product for bluetooth although the following company seems to have an option for that...but for aux/iPod, I suggest the USA Spec PA15-NIS or INFI, depending on your packages and if you have XM/SAT radio. Do a search for that on here and you'll get a breakdown of what it entails. Also you can search YouTube to see my video of it.

As for the seats themselves, I can't offer any info on that but you might be able to use the FSM (factory service manual) in the FAQ link (my signature) to determine if the wiring is present, etc. (my guess is it's not but don't quote me on that).

I reckon that the cars WITH surround sound (speakers in seats) use the same actual radio head unit, but most likely use a different amp and wiring schematic. Assuming you can find used tech package seats, they probably a different seat wiring harness and different amp wiring harness that includes the extra speakers in the A pillars and seats. You would basically have to strip the interior out and re-build it just to add the extra 6 speakers and re-wire the new amp from scratch.
Just as a guide, a new front seat for a surround sound car is about $3,000 new (you need 2). The amp needed for the surround system is over $500, and if the seats don't come with the speakers installed, they are over $120 each (you need 4). Then there is the wiring harness and no telling what that could cost. Assuming you could find these items used, hoping they will work for a decent amount of time, it's still thousands of dollars. For that kind of time and money, you may want to consider trading your M plus some cash for a similar or slightly newer model that already has the packages you want.
Your year and model in great shape even with 100k miles should fetch at least $10-12,000 and I've seen 09's fully loaded with less than 100k miles for about $14-16,000. Any model from 2007 to 2010 will still have your body style and any model after 2007 will have the brilliantly stunning white-blue instrument panel lights.
