I need to know how to find out whether or not my 97 Kouki is VLSD or Open Diff. Someone told me that the firewall plate has a code on it. Does anyone know how to find out whether or not it's open differential or VLSD? Help would be much appreciated...

Thanks

PLease only post 1 thread about the exact same subject at a time. Thanks

Really though. I think if it has ABS it has LSD..no ABS=NO LSD.. Also ONLY POST A TOPIC ONE TIME I mean good lord...you created 5 IDENTICAL ****ing threads!.. and SEARCH.. This has been covered so many times I just might kill someone if I see it again!

Hope I could help..Mav

It's very POOR netiquette, and it's considered spam.

Searching might be better, but that would take some effort .

Ok, you are being an ***...so I shouldnt want to help you...but If you look at the dif (you will have to look under the car) there should be a sticker on the side... Bright construction sign orange from what I remember...and if that is there..it is VLSD...if not..than either it is Open or the sticker has fallen off.

Also, if it was me, I would have deleted this post as well!

Part of my role/responsibility as a NICO site administrator is to help maintain the site. Five threads of the exact same content spread all over, isn't good site management. I did copy the 2 responses you received (1 also includes a comment about "multiple posting" of the same topic) into the thread that I left, in the place it belonged.

Here's 2 existing threads I found on the topic, through a simple search.

I understand, and I apologize for jumping the gun. I will start to use the search feature. Sorry for making your site dirty. If you want I can let you borrow my industrial pressure washer and you can really give this site a good clean up. I'm just kidding so please don't ban my name from NICO. Thanks for the help man

Heh..from what I have seen its pretty hard to get banned from here man. Don't worry about it. Everyone around here is helpful..I am just having one of "those" days..Looks like you have been a member for a while, just not many posts so I am sure you know how some of the people are around here. Good luck with whatever work your having done...and if you don't have VLSD...Don't get stuck with a 300zx NA LSD with no axles or output shafts.. Thats what I did. I only paid $20 for it but its killing me because I cant put it in.

Welcome aboard, Hydro.

Not off to a great start, but worse has happened.

Actually, I'm not surprised this happened at all - Most boards don't have the traffic we have, so questions can go unanswered for days or even weeks.

Usually, people get replies here within a hour.

Anyway, welcome, and enjoy the site.

I actually have had several names on these forums and have been banned for practically invisible offenses. But obviously I enjoy your forums or I wouldve left awhile ago. LOL. Oh and if you wanted to replace ur LSD just get one from a 95, 96 Infiniti J30, cause they are as easy to install as they are to find. Any junk yard would help you. But I just wanted to know if my 97 had LSD. I don't know if it has ABS. And i'm driving my other car right now so I can't look at the moment. But I called 1-800-Nissan-1 and they helped me out. But the only thing is that they cant tell me more about my vehicle until the VIN goes out of archiving. Apparently if you dont check ur VIN for 5 years, it gets archived and then you must wait 24-48 hrs to get more info. But thanks for responding and I hope I'm not REALLY off to a bad start. I've already had 2 prior bad starts on your forums for people insulting me.

Thanks again

Dro

Everything you need to know besides the condition of the car and the mileage (obviously). But they can tell you every option that came stock on the vehicle. And the exact date the car was made, etc.
