help with internet connection* computer genuises please help!

im having major difficulty hooking up my cable internet since i moved into my new apartment. I had cable internet at my last place and it worked fine the day i unhooked it. at the new place i cant get it to work. its going through a hub and the other computer on it works in every slot no problem, even with the cable im trying to use, but mine wont work in any. the lights on the hub and my ethernet card are on but nothing happens. I dont understand why it wont work anymore, its the same company providing service just in a different place. I came across something when i was messing with it that says my IP address wont renew. and my roommate says he has heard of people having to change it when hooking up to a different place, but I know very little about this stuff. hopefully someone will know whats going on.

well you probably will need a new ip address seeing as how cable modems mostly have static ip addresses, just call the cable company

you need to call your cable provider and ask them to 're-provision' your modem.
