Hey all,

So since last summer I've been working on a few of the things missing from the truck since I bought it. One was the remote keyless entry fobs (finally got those) another is the remote start is missing the remote, that's going to take some more ingenuity and phoning around.

One thing I can do is install the factory CD changer. Now I know there are a lot up for sale on ebay periodically, and through other used channels. First thing is, where is the stock location for the CD changer supposed to be? What I read was the pigtail harness should already be there, that you just need the unit that's appropriate for your year of vehicle and you can plug and play. Note that my head unit is the bose system with the provisions for the CD changer (it has the buttons for it anyway).

Before I buy or start pulling apart any location I think might be the proper mounting location, I want to confirm exactly where I should be digging.

Thanks!

PS sorry if this is one of those things that has come up 1000 times, I'm new to the board. I didn't see it in the FAQ.

The multi-disc changer should be under your passenger seat. The wire harness stems from a slit in the carpeting which also has the side airbag wires (if equipped) and some power seat wires.

In 2001+ R50s, the changer is in-dash.

Excellent, I know exactly where you're talking about. I found a motorola bluetooth earpiece in there when I was vacuuming it out once. Thanks, I'll have to check it and take a look at the pin.

Now one thing I'm curious...I know I've seen a few different cartridge disc changers labelled as compatible with the '98 Bose system. What I'm wondering is if the pin fits, is that adaptable, or is there a possibility of strange communication errors between the head unit and the changer that would make the changer inoperable. From what I know about car audio is that if the harness fits...it'll work. But I'm not going to just assume that before I buy a changer and find out I made a costly mistake.

update

So I checked under the seat, and the slit in the carpet, and all I have are the power seat wires. Could not find any wire with a plug for a disc changer. Guess I'll have to pull out my head unit and see if the remote for the changer exists.

I also read this

Quote »QX4 97-01 INSTALL UNDER PASS SEAT OR IN CARGO AREA(Must use harness and wire from Radio to trunk or under manual adjust passenger side seat) Cannot be installed under seat if car has dual power seats. [/quote]From everythinginfiniti.com

hmmm...

Any other suggestions?
