Hey guys I need help! I am currently trying to turbo charge my 92 240sx.But when I start the engine it wont idle right it is idling very ruff and sometimes die out. I Elimenated the ic pipes and put back the stock air intake piping to see f the that was the problem but still does it. I checked for vacuum leak but found none. There is a loud hissing noise from cyl #1 injector I was wondering if this was normal with all 92' ka engines. I also took off the Egr piping that runs from the intake to the downpipe and plugged it up. I am stumped please help by giving me idea on what to do.

def sounds like a vaccum leak, but also check to make sure your timing is correct (distrib is not a tooth off).

Are you running an open atmosphere BOV? Cause mine did that too until I played with the settings on the SAFC II and corrected for it.

Sorry to ask such stupid questions but where is the IACV?

And I re-did the timing twice just to make sure that it wasn't the problem.

And yes it Idles like this when it is cold and hot.

Would the Ecu be causing this problem for example if it is damp ect....

IACV is on the back of the intake manifold but the pipe for it comes to front to the right of the throttle body. this needs a vaccuum line into the IC piping or intake piping for the car to idle

I had a similar problem when I first stared my rebuilt engine. It had an erratic idle and generally seemed like it had a vacuum leak. The only problem that I found was with injector number one, there was a loud hissing noise coming from it. Everytime i pushed down on the injector the noise would disappear and the engine would idle purfect. I thought it was the injector o-ring and started to pull it out. Trouble was, I couldn't get it out. I thought I would have to remove the fuel rail, so I loosened the bolt by #1 injector and found that it was already loose. hmmm. The bolt by the firewall was a lot tighter. So all I had to do was torque the fuel rail down and it solved all my idle problems. So easy, so fast, so instantly gratifing.

Hey guys thanks for all the input: The last post won!!!!!!!I took a close look at injector #1 and saw with an inspection mirror that the o-ring that sits on the intake mani. was slightly wedged up maybe 1/16 of an inch. I loosened up the fuel rail bolt and pushed it so it was seating properly and started the engine. OH when that engine started and idled I was so happy......... ........now the only thing I have to figure out is when idling the engine sounds like it miss fires once every two to three minutes.....is this normal or do you guys have any other explaination why it does that?
